Questions about London Radisson Edwardian Hampshire

Hi all,

Long-time lurker, first-time poster. My boyfriend and I are going to London for the first time in late July and I have already gotten loads of good tips from this forum. It is always my first place to look for answers!

My first question, of potentially many more, regards our hotel. We booked a "deluxe double room" with a king size bed at the Edwardian Hampshire at 110 pounds/night (not including tax) on londontown.com. We really like the central location of this hotel. We feel like we got a good deal - did we, or should I keep looking? Rate is up to 140 pounds today on londontown.com.

Also, I am going to email the hotel directly to confirm our reservation. Is there a particular type of room I should request - i.e. in the back of the hotel for less noise, in the front of the hotel for a better view? If anyone who has stayed here has any comments, they would be much appreciated. Thanks very much.

Yeah that is a good deal for the location and that hotel. Those Edwardian hotels are very British and a well operated. The location is right on Leister Sq and is a good one because you will be in the middle of the city and right in all the action of the shops, Picadilly Circus and theater. You are also within walking distance from many sights. That hotel posts for up to L155 without tax so you L110 rate is a good one.

Yes, you can find a cheaper place in places like Kensington or Kings Cross but it won't be more central or charming. Once you are there you'll see that location is very important.

If you want to check reservation, why not just call Radisson direct?

Good Choice!

Thanks for the post richardab - glad to hear you have good things to say about the hotel and its location. Phew!

Thanks also for the suggestion of calling them directly - good idea. Any thoughts on if one room location within the hotel is better than any other?

my guess is that you can make a request but they wont do anything til u check in. this hotel is right on leister sq next to the half price ticket booth. leister sq can be noisey. see if the hotel has double paned windows on the front and if they do then take the front so u can people watch. i also have to say that if it doesnt face front then you can be facing anything from an air conditioning unit to a wall.

Last year, we booked a fabulous rate at the Rubens Hotel with londontown.com. No problems whatsoever. Before we left, I reconfirmed all my hotel reservations and received a faxed reply directly from the Rubens. I wouldn't hesitate to use londontown.com again.
