The Fielding Hotel or Jenkins Hotel
Hello -- My daughter and I will be traveling to London for four nights in September. I'd like to find a hotel in a reasonable price range near Covent Garden/theaters. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi KOL
Unless the Fielding Hotel has been totally renovated I would hesitate to stay there. We too chose it for location but it had many drawbacks.
The rooms are very small and the baths are miniscule. The street outside is very noisy at night so hard to keep your windows open.
The hotel looked very tired although the rooms were clean.
Can't give you another recommendation in the area but my advice is keep looking.
Have a great trip - London is wonderful.

I'm pretty sure the Fielding was completely redone. I know it was closed for awhile about a year or so ago. Their website pictures indicate all new baths.
Yes, the rooms are tiny, and the baths are miniscule. Does anyone know of a "centrally" located hotel that cost 100 pounds or less where they aren't?
Sounds like the same is true of the Jenkins, but I don't know that hotel at all.

We stayed at the Morgan Hotel, £95 for a double with full breakfast, last fall. It is just around the corner from the British Museum, a couple of blocks off Oxford Street, and in walking distance of Covent Gardens.
It is family owned and the rooms are pretty small, but it is clean and cozy.

Yes, with Priceline, for 4* hotels, and even 3* hotels. All bathrooms and rooms that I have gotten have been reasonably sized, even in London, and the total price has ended up being less than half of 100 pounds per night. In KOL's case, I'd suggest considering a bid in the Mayfair-Soho zone, if she is OK with the possible drawbacks. However, in that zone I'd expect the total price to end up being about 60-80 pounds per night (but you bid in USD on Priceline). If willing to consider what Priceline calls the Bloomsbury-Marble Arch zone, then a total result of 40-50 pounds/night is fairly likely.

I was looking for an affordable (for me !) hotel as near as possible to Royal Opera because I was going to a performance there (sadly, I couldn't do it). I saw the Fielding and I loved the location but ohhhh, it has no lift or ground floor rooms which I need due to my disability. Well, I can go up some stairs, even a floor..but I have to be sure what kind of stairs they have
Could anyone of you tell me ?
I mean, it's just in case I have the chance again to go to the Opera
