Question about French Sanitaire

I'm pretty clear on what you won't be allowed to do without the Sanitaire (museums, bars, restaurants, etc). My question: Would a vaccinated tourist without one will be allowed to order takeout from a restaurant? How strictly is this being enforced? The one I'll be traveling with may not be able to get one in time so just want to know what his dining options are if he doesn't get one. (he won't be getting a COVID test or pharmacy hopping to get the Sanitaire) We plan on visiting Strasbourg for a day. Thanks.

You could always get a COVID-19 (Antigen) test at a pharmacy. It costs about 30 euros and is good for 48 hours. I am sure there are restaurants that would take your CDC card.

I'm counting on that. We'll probably be studying different cafes to see if some tourists are flashing CDC cards.

You can get takeout or delivery items no matter what your health status is.

How are you getting to Strasbourg? You can't take a bus, train or plane to Strasbourg without a pass sanitaire. Renting a car, maybe?

I can't imagine going to Strasbourg for a day by car.

You can't take a bus or train in France with a negative COVID-19 Antigen Test?????

Now they give a pass sanitaire with any testing that they do -- valid for 48 hours but with a QR code.

Unfortunately, the whole system crashed Friday evening and is not totally fixed yet, so some of the pharmacies are having to issue paper documents wtth no QR code.

We are visiting France right now & we are currently in the French alps. We are fully vaccinated Americans. This is really a hit or miss situation. So far only one restaurant refused us because we don’t have the Pass Sanitaire. One restaurant asked to see our vaccination certificates. Another restaurant told us they accept it but did not ask to see it. Other restaurants did not require anything.

if you get the Pass Sanitaire, make sure you bring a paper copy with you. One restaurant wasn’t able to scan our daughter’s Pass so they refused us. She now carries the paper version.

hope this helps!

Thank you everyone. Yes, we are renting a car and driving up from Freiburg. A restaurant we booked in Strasbourg asked us to come and bring our CDC cards and passports. No mention of the Sanitaire. I was a big surprised because it's one of the highest rated in Strasbourg.

Check out the CLEAR app, for a QR digital vaccine pass which is available online or from many American health vaccine sites (hospital networks) -- you begin with a selfie and in order to use it, you must take a new selfie for it to recognize you. Awesome. Thinking that'll be accepted next year in France.
