pub accomodation in London

I'm going to be in London for a short stay on my way home (Sydney) from Spain. I know London pretty well and have been there often. I usually stay with friends or end up at the obligatory Bloomsbury/Bayswater etc B&B. Nice enough but this time I fancy staying in a pub in town. I'm sure a lot of them offer accom but I just can't find a website that is any help. If I had a CAMRA guide that might help but I don't... Can anyone give me a heads up and recommend a website or even any pubs they might have stayed in? Another whimsy is staying in Hampstead, just for something different. A pub in Hamstead?? Thanks in advance.

The Mitre in Greenwich has rooms, and it's a great pub.

I live across the street from The Duke's Head Inn - a pub in Richmond. It is about an 8 minute walk to the train/tube and about 20 minutes to Waterloo on the fast train. Last stop on the District line. I don't know if you want to stay that far out but it is definitely a neighborhood pub. And I am not so familiar with Hampstead but I think that Richmond would give you a similar feel. We have a great riverfront as well.

We had lunch in St. John's Wood at the New Inn, 2 Allisten Road. I noticed they had rooms which looked quite nice and thought it would be a friendly place to stay. Good Thai on the menu too.

Thanks NewinUK, where2 and sprin2, I'm going to look into all these suggestions! So many pubs must have accom - in Oz we have a pubstay organisation purely for pub accom around the country. I'm surprised I haven't managed to find something similar for the UK yet. Thanks for the advice!

We stayed at the Mad Hatter once, in Southbank (sort of). The hotel was OK, the Fuller's pub beneath it was adequate but bland though. There's not a blessed thing of interest there, though quite a lot is nearby; you're just across the bridge from The Black Friar, which if they had rooms would be my permanent residence!

Thanks sprin2. I had gotten to beerintheevening via google previously and though it does let you search accom it doesn't make it easy! ie "great pub directly across from nurses accom" Looks like it might be as good as the info gets though... thanks again. And thanks fnarf999 for the South Bank (sort of) suggestion!

michela31, to search for accomodation at beerintheevening, you have to go to the "advanced search", and then enter "london" (or a specific postcode), and check the "accomodation" box. You should get only pubs with on-premises rooms, about a pageful. How accurate the site is, I couldn't say.

There is also http://www.stayinapub.com/ where you can search London, or actually Greater London. There are a couple that sound closer to the center.

Thank you both, I'll look into those suggestions. I'm still thinking there is a business opportunity here though! I'll update here how I go. Cheers
