Bob, I know how difficult it must have been for you to pass this bad news on to all of us. Thank you for having the strength & thoughtfulness to do that.
My prayers and thoughts are also with Wes and his family. Wes' postings on this board have always been informative, polite, and fun. I've missed seeing him here and wish the very best for him, and for his family. He is a true gentleman.

Hello, I would like to take this time to thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers for Wes Fowler, who happens to be my father. It is amazing to know how a person you have never met has made an impact in your lives thru this forum. I wish I could relay what he has meant to us, his family. I have learned so much from this man that I still to this day learn something from him. He will forget more then I will ever remember. He has been a wonderful father to my sister and I, a wonderful husband to my mother, and a wonderful grandfather to my children. It is hard to be in the Washington DC area during this time, but they have raised us to be independent and strong. He will be missed but will never be forgotten for what he has done for us. Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers, and Dad I love you! Jason Fowler

Oh Jason.
That was heartbreaking and so dear. You have been lucky to have such a father, and I am sure he is lucky to have had such a son.
We can all only wish to be able to be remembered so kindly when it is time for us to go also.
God bless you and your family and Wes.

Jason,
I will pass along to you some words of wisdom from Helen Keller, which I have seen more and more truth in since the death of my father:
What we have once enjoyed
We can never lose,
All that we love deeply
Becomes a part of us.

Wes' advice on this forum has been incredibly helpful to me over the years. What a generous gift it was for him to share his knowledge with so many here. People like Wes are what makes this forum a community rather than a bunch of strangers. This forum will feel the loss of his presence.

I cannot begin to thank you enough for all your thoughts and prayers. I know my dad would be truly surprised if he were to log on right now and see all you have written for him. I know it is just killing him that he is not able to dish out his great advice right now. You don't know how much he really enjoyed checking out the new posts and researching for all of you. He loves travelling I think more than anything. He was always on the computer ready to help anyone who needed it. But you must understand..he truly enjoyed it! He loved it most when everyone returned from the trip and told him what a great time they had. Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers. We really do appreciate it. As his daughter it is amazing to see how many people my dad has touched. It just reaffirms to me what a great person he really is. Thank you again.

I am so pleased to see that Jason has found this thread. I did do a cut and paste of the first 58 posts and send them to Nuby to hopefully share these heartfelt responses with Wes. His contribution to this forum has been tremendous--I am glad that so many of you share my awe of this man.

Veronica and Jason,
I hope that you are reading these to your dad and sharing our thoughts with him. I hope you also take comfort from this. Obviously, Wes shared his trait for being special with his children~

I used to frequent this board two years ago and just checked in to see what was going on. This heading got my attention right away because Wes was one of the really good guys always full of good advice and a true gentleman. I am so sorry to hear of his illness.

Dear Jason and Veronica,
I hope it gives you peace and consolation that so many of us are so fond of your wonderful father. It is very touching to hear from you both, his children, after years of communicating with him about another of his loves, travel.
Do try to let him know how much we all love and miss him. He was a joy to communicate with and his help for my German and Cotswald trips was great and I enjoyed our emails.
Please do give him my love and tell him I pray for him on his final trip, Kay in Houston TX

I send hugs, positive thoughts and prayers to Wes, Nuby, family and friends. Thanks so much for keeping us informed, Bob.
I was lucky enough to meet this incredibly interesting and friendly couple at the Atlanta GTG. Wes is everything in person that you imagine on this screen, and Nuby is a dynamic woman: Wes is in good hands. So, make that 77 devotees sending our gratitude and concern!

Dear Veronica,
Please let Wes know that he is my thoughts and prayers. Also let him know that his favourite town in Europe - Gengenbach, is now also one of our favourites. Infact, I bought a small two inch hand-made bear there at the local market on a sunday and named him Gengenbach. We recently bought a car (which a big deal here in Hong Kong since very few people need or buy cars)and my husband asked me what I wanted to hang on the mirror in the car. I instantly replied - little Gengenbach ofcourse. So whenever we are driving around, our memories of Gengenbach and Wes will be with us. God bless you all.
Regards
