In working with families in similar situations for years, my consistent observation is that the same deeply held senses of kindness, wisdom, wonder, gratitude, strength and compassion that are the basis for how one lives serve well in the final leg of the journey. What an amazing testimony to Wes that so many people (myself included) count themselves better off for having been touched by him. Veronica and Jason, your words attest to your Dad's (and Mom's, I'm sure) fine job fostering similar strengths in yourselves. Add mine to the long list of prayers.

I also recognized his name and have read many of his posts. I recall his contributions to the forum as being very gentle, thoughtful and informative. How comforting it must be to his family that his Fodorite family cares so much for him.

Dear Wes and family, I am so very saddened to learn of this news. Wes, you have always been such an amazing source of help and inspiration to me as I planned my travels. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.<BR><BR>My father was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and I know first-hand the sheer devastation that that diagnosis brings to a family. If any of Wes's family members would like to contact me, I would be glad to be of help and support while you are all dealing with the emotional toll of this horrible disease. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you as you face this sad reality together. I will pray for a miracle for you Wes! Hugs and love to you all!!! Lisa

A BIG ditto to all that has been said about Wes and his wonderful postings and helpful hints for us all<BR><BR>But I would also like to add my sincere appreciation to all the wonderful Fodorites on this board. Your caring and concern for Wes and his family is truely admirable, and isn't that what it's all about? It doesn't really matter if we wear white sneakers or pink sweat pants, but that we care about our fellow human beings. No matter where you travel or who you meet, continue to show the kindness to a fellow traveler on the planet earth, and you will definitely reap the rewards. Wes revealed his thoughtful, kind and generous spirit particularly in one post entitled &quot;Are there small, unexpected delights you've encountered in your travels?&quot; How many of us on this forum felt our hearts leap when we happily shared some of our personal and magical travel moments. Aside from the practical and wise advice and tips Wes offered, it was a joy to respond to such a lovely question and &quot;escape&quot; by reading others personal stories. He is a gentleman who draws out the best in people. What a gift! God bless you Wes, my prayers are with you.
