Sad to hear the news. My thoughts go out to him and his family. Has always acted like a gentleman on the site and I'll miss his advice.

My thoughts and prayers to Wes and his family too. When I was new to Fodors, his comments were very helpful.

I think of Wes' constructive contributions to this board, also. I'll be thinking of him, his family, wishing them strength and comfort.

I think we should all say/murmur LJ's wonderful prayer over and over for Wes and his family.
Thank you, Bob, for informing us so we can surround Wes with a traveling community of love as he may go off soon on his final journey. He leaves pieces of himself with us and we send pieces of ourselves with him. Kay

Thank you for letting us know, Bob -- although no one is happy in the knowing. Any way to convey all these good wishes to Wes and/or his family?

He represented not only the best of this forum but the best of traveling's spirit and we needed more of him.

Too soon, too soon.

Bless Wes and his family.

Thoughts with you, Wes. Another poster sends their best, and promises to toast one in your direction, and remember that many thought highly of you. Take care.

Though I'm fairly new to this panel and never had personal interaction with Wes, I join all of you in prayers for Wes and his family. I also believe in the existence of miracles.

I work on the Hospice unit in our VA so I know how important prayers are at this time. My thoughts and prayers go out to Wes and his family. Here's a lovely quote from The Little Prince that has helped me in the past:
"In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of the stars I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the sky at night."

I remember Wes saying after his return to Fodor's from his initial go round with his illness that all was not well. I hoped then that this one time he was wrong. I join all of you in prayer and the hope for a miracle.

Bob, thanks for letting us know Wes' status. He helped me when I started at Fodor's and always thought so highly of him. May he and his family find peace.
LJ, thank you for sharing that prayer. It is really lovely.
Gigi

bob
would you want to inquire if Wes would like any email messages or e-cards, or would that impose an inadvertent burden or embarrassment on him or his wife?

We all know that there are things in life that we all wish for. One of the things I am wishing for right now is a medical miracle. My thoughts are with Wes and his family. Like so many of us we never really knew the man, but he seems to be an awfully kind and caring individual. I know that he definitely made a serious impact in many peoples lives.

The other thing, as I was reading the posts from Wes, that I found myself wishing for was to meet up with Wes somewhere in Europe and be invited to kind of follow him around. What a great traveller he must be.

God bless Wes!
