Prague to Budapest by train

We are planning to take the train from Prague to Budapest on December 31. We will travel during the daytime, leaving early morning. I know it takes about 7 hours. Is this a scenic train journey? Will we be seeing beautiful snow covered countryside?Alternative is to fly. Any comments would be welcome.

Hi Brissie,
Iīm from south Moravia region (Czech Republic). I donīt think so that snow will be here or in Hungary on December. On this web-site you can see on-line webcam: http://www.mikulov.cz/main_cz.php?Akce=kamera

Thanks Michal. But even without snow, is it interesting/scenic coutryside that we will see while on the train journey? Or is it heavy industry or similar?

It's a train trip. Some mildly pretty countryside (but that was in the spring - more likly to be grey and dreary in December) but nothing dramatic. Snow is possible but not very likely.

I know journey between Prague and a town Breclav well. I think the most beautiful coutryside you will see in region Vysocina between Prague and Brno. There is hilly scenery, woods, ponds and a few tunnels. Then agricultural coutryside continues only but not industry. It is in surrounding of larger towns (Cesky Trebova, Brno and similar. pleasant journey!

Dear Brissie, I have made a misteak. Czech Republic is snow covered whole this year. It is unusual. See on-line camera I have recommended. Michal
