Prague appt w/terrace recommendation?

Hello Fellow Fodorites, my wife and I are planning a trip for next September that includes 5 or 6 nights in Prague. We are looking for a modest apartment with a small kitchen in the Old Town area, and would like a terrace or balcony with a view. Price? Under $100 would be great, but perhaps I'm dreaming. Any recommendations?

There have been several threads here discussing apartments in Prague. Here's one:

I travel to Prague on a regular basis and can't say I have seen any places with terraces or even balconies in the Old Town, also this is one of the more expensive areas to stay so you may have to think about lowering expectations or increasing your budget.Prague many years ago was a very cheap place to visit ,with the strong Czech Crown and the weak $ and even weaker £ it is no longer the case.

contact Tomas at this website with your requests and he will do his best to give you a few options.
The Vinhrady area may be a better choice, the old town is just about walkable ,but the excellent tram/metro system will get you anywhere in the city quickly and cheaply.

If you are comfortable making reservations at the last minute, try www.wotif.com. I stayed in a beautiful apartment this past Easter at the Metamorphis Hotel that I booked for 5 nights for around $110 USD (78 euro) per night. I caught the tail end of a winter special, so prices would be higher in September. It is a beautiful 5-star hotel, UNESCO heritage site, and looked like a small condo. The website pictures don't do it justice.

I also booked 3 nights at the Prague Expres Hotel through www.a-prague.com. It is a small hotel only a five-minute walk from Old Town, but otherwise doesn't meet your criteria. They are currently running a special where you stay 4 nights but only pay for 3.

Even if you don't book through these sites, you can use them to get a good idea of hotel availability and prices, and then check reviews on tripadvisor. Good luck!

Just an update: We did find a place, listed this way: STUDIO SAINT CLEMENT
Our Studio is in the same house as pension Platan, it is the same address - second building.
The Studio has big central room with en suite kitchen with micro wave, fridge, el.kettle, toaster, eating utensils, king size bed, 2 extra beds, seat set, radio with alarm, TV, ventilator (el. fan), full mirror, hairdryer and safe deposit box, bathroom, corridor with wardrobes and a terrace with a wonderful view on the river and the roofs of the city center of Prague.
The only disadvantage of our Studio is that it is on the 5.floor, but without elevator access. For that my opinion very good price you will get a nice place where to enjoy your stay in Prague.
FREE INTERNET USE in the reception and free WIFI internet access in the studio.
Pictures show a little balcony, we will post a trip report when we return and let everyone know how this place was. This is our splurge-we just love that extra outdoor space when on vacation. There were a few posts on Slow Traveler that gave it a thumbs up-noting there were 5 floors & no elevator. This is why one travels while they still have legs! Alas, September does seem a long way off right now. Shirley

You might be interested in this website, which was recommended to be by the friend of a friend (who used to live in Prague). He knows the owners, they offer both apartments and rooms. I haven't stayed here yet, but will in March, so I'll try to remember to come back and post my impressions.

Sidny, those rooms look wonderful! They remind me of a room we had in Vienna (Pension Nossek I think it was called), right in the heart of the downtown. Please post your experience when you return. Happy Travels. Shirley
