Somewhere in Chinatown (Royal China is good)? What about Kettners? If there's enough of us we could get a private dining room - they do them there.

I love china town - I usually eat in Gerrard's Corner for their dim sum but that's not on in the evenings...

China town works for me...

Oh and I keep reading good things about this place, though I haven't been:

Chinese Experience
118 Shaftesbury Ave
London
W1D 5EP

I THINK it might do dimsum even in the evenings - I know it's heresy but it's great group food isn't it?

Is it worth trying to get into Yauatcha? Best dim sum in town! And fabulous decor. Reasonable too. I ate there a couple of times and LOVED it.

From Hardens:

Yauatcha W1 £30 per head
Broadwick Hs, 15-17 Broadwick St
“Perfect morsels” of “delectable” dim sum win “top marks” for Alan Yau’s new “designer” Soho sibling to the famed Hakkasan

Aah, my bad. Yauatcha is the one I was thinking of with dimsum all day - Chinese Experience was in my head because I'd come across a review more recently but is not the one I was thinking of.

Mind reader!

Wooooo hooooo,
This is great reading ...the three of you chatting about all these ideas of places to eat.

Dim sum would be some fun. Yum, yum.

I just saw a French documentary about "dim sum appartments" in Paris where illegal Chinese people work in the grosest circumstances. The Food Inspection and Police came to arrest everybody. It was disgusting! I hope these dim sum restaurants you're mentioning have a bit higher standards

Well, I've been eating regularly in them for several years and haven't got ill or died yet... so hygiene strikes me as just fine.

And certainly in the one I eat in most often the staff are always friendly and most have been working there for years so... unless they have a separate, hidden, slumforce, I'd say working conditions are probably just fine too!

At Yauatcha, the kitchen is in full view of the restaurant, so no worries there!

I wasn't truly worried, I'm quite confident you know where you're going, just thought I'd mention it since the topic got to dim sum Seems yummie, I'll definitely try to be in London at that time!

Make that two "I will if I can." (And can I bring my faithful traveling companion if he wants to come?)

VCL, more the merrier, especially if said faithful companion is happy to talk travel!

Should be fun!

Judy, who is in the definite list and the not sure list at the moment?

The "I'll be there " total du jour:

Kavey
David
Kate ( and perhaps a guest)
Julia, who will be driving in from the Cotswolds
Carolyn
Lisa
Judy

"I will if I can " list
Stardust
Virginia ( and perhaps a guest)

As Kavey said: The more Fodorites( and friends) the merrier.
If you can be in town, please do consider joining us on Oct 25. Just let me know so I can tell the London Fodorites how many people to book for.
Once again, my email is [email protected]

Caroline, I'm sorry you won't be able to be there .

No rush in booking - it's not looking like a massive group so a few weeks notice should be plenty for us to book some nice place...

Now that it is officially autumn, I'm hoping we can reach a decision on a time and venue for our London GTG...soon.
Where I should turn up for dinner on Oct. 25th?
I will be leaving the US on Oct 10 and I don't know when/if I'll have an opportunity to pop into an internet cafe after that date.

If there are other people interested in joining us, please let us know so that the proper number of seats can be booked.
Everyone is welcome.

Kavey, David, Kate...what say you?

If we want to take advantage of offers such as those frequently displayed on toptable (50% off a la carte menu) then we need to wait till nearer the time, really.

It's a month away yet.... my instinct would be to give it another couple of weeks...?
