Positano: Suggestions for PEACEFUL hotel/b&b

So MANY of the hotels/b&b's in Positano look inviting. But I am looking for something in a QUIET/PEACEFUL location and it's hard to tell just by reading books/internet. We really need some tranquility to "veg out". I'm concerned that some hotels/b&b's are too close to a main road or a noisy beach.

Is there an area of town that would be better for a quiet location? I will NOT have a car. But if there is some place just out of town that is special and has access to bus service, I would consider it.

I would also like a private balcony/terrace; view of the bay; FRIENDLY staff; clean, air- conditioning.

Steps are NOT a problem for me.

Under 200 E per night if possible. 250 E if it's a REALLY beautiful view.

Thanks.

Take a look at Villa Rosa. Very nice B&B just across the street (the foot path, NOT a street) from 5* La Sirenuse (sp?). Sea view rooms 200-250 Euros in high season, less in off season. Bonne chance!

Also look at Residence Alcione, which is right next door to Villa Rosa and has equally great terraces overlooking Positano (we paid 140 Euros a night). We returned home from there a week ago and noise was not a problem at all. Any traffic seemed to stop by 9:00 or so and didn't start up again until well after 8:00 in the morning. Even then, the road is only the one through the town and not the main Sorrento Amalfi road. Positano is a pretty quiet town.

Hi ST,

I can highly recommend rm 12 at www.lesirene.com in Praiano (about 6 km E of Positano) for your requirements.

The Orange bus will take you into Positano for about 1E.

Hi

There are two sections of Positano that are truly quiet and have fantastic panoramas and easy acess to the rest of the village if you wanted that.

One is NOCELLE the mountain community of Positano witheasy access by local bus to the village (12 min.). I would recommend "La Quercia" in NOCELLE.

The other is the ARIENZO section of Positano. I would recommend "Holiday House Gilda". For very different experiences in the beauty of the area I would suggest Positano Adventure WAlks. They take you away from the commercial things and show you cove beaches, mountain paths, waterfalls and archeological sites that aren't crowded.
