Positano -- Eden Roc or Miramare
We're going to the Amalfi Coast for our honeymoon and plan on using Positano as our "base". We've narrowed our search down to the Eden Roc and the Miramare. Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi, key in the words Miramare and Eden roc. You will get great reviews on Miramare. I booked a room after all the replies I found on this site.. Eden Roc appears to be a little out of town and had some so so reviews. Hope it helps. Rosetta

Hi jmbagyi,
not to confuse your choices but we stayed in a gorgeous B&B in Positano in June 2001.
Villa La Tartana. via Vicolo Vito, Savino, 6/8 Positano. The room overlooked the sea, was airconditioned, had a balcony and a fridge. We did our own version of self catering some days and ate out on our balcony.
Our ensuite also had a balcony that overlooked the duomo, plus was a great palce to dry clothes!
It is only a 1 minute walk to the beach, it is right in the heart of Positano.I would wake up each moring and lie in bedwatching the sea.La dolce vita

Last year we stayed at the Miramare for 4 nights and loved it. We had the room with the large balcony as well as the shower had a full glass pane looking out towards the bay. I think our room was no 210?? It is quite a walk up to the hotel, but you stop along the way and look out at the view....beautiful. The staff there are extremely friendly and helpful and speak good English. We just loved Positano and took trips on the Ferry to Amalfi and then onto Ravello by bus. Thas was one of our most memorable days. We ended our trip with 3 nights in Capri which was also very nice. Hope this helps you a little.

Our first and only visit to Positano we stayed at the Miramare. We'd definitely go back! We didn't request any special room but it was lovely and spacious. (There were 3 of us.) The management and staff were extremely friendly and helpful (and patient as we asked the same questions again and again). Breakfast was delightful. The best part was the morning spent on the hotel's boat (gratis) cruising, swimming and snorkling. Miramare is about 1/3 of the way down the steps to the beach so it's a hike either way. Their porter, whom we called Lurch, will carry your bags on arrival and departure, but after that it's up to you.

Hi, I recieved email pictures from gt896 who stayed at the Miramare. Look up his thread and ask him to send you the pictures. They were great. The Miramare is about half way up the hill ,painted a reddish color and beautiful. It definitely was a perfect location in reference to the town. The Miramare will definitely be on all the postcards of Positano. Have fun Rosetta
