Positano/Capri or Ischia
Hi,
I know i have a few posts open about were to go in Italy when i fly there in Sept for 5 nights, however i keep changing my mind when i see other peoples reviews:
the plan i decided on a couple of days ago was:
fly to naples airport Sunday 30th Sept then take a ferry/hydrofoil to Ischia and stay there for 2 nights after then then go to Sorrento and stay there for 3 nights as then i can easily visit Pompeii and take another day trip if i seen one aswell as seeing Sorrento.
However...
I am know wondering whether to stay the 2 nights in Ischia or whether to stay in Positano or Capri instead? i want to definately stay in Sorrento for 3 nights so im just undecided on were to spend my first 2 nights.
My husband and i, love walking around and seeing the sights of little villages/towns and eating at nice restaurants (not to expensive). I dont mind touristy places however he prefers places a bit less touristy so im not sure where to go as i understand Ishcia is not as touristy as Capri but ive heard Capri is amazing! Also i would like to go Positano but is it really expensive? and how would i get there from Naples airport?
can anyone advise?
thanks

I dont think you can go wrong, and no one can really make up your mind for you. Why dont you look at photos and see what grabs you the most.
We spent a week in Positano and loved it. We did a day trip to Capri and I would not go back, did nothing for me - although some say it is magical at night. I thought it was filled with high end designer shops and over priced restaurants. Not my scene at all but could you others.
My point is that everyone has their own opinions and some love certain places, some love others - but none of us are you, so do some research and then you'll just have to pick one!

Go a fair amount was there in May.We stayed in Positano
At Best Western Paistea nice views for price. $80/nt www.hoteldelfino.com wonderful views over Capri in
the Masa Lubrense area and also Majestic Palace in Sorrento for Pompeii. Islands like Capri more expenive isolated toristic not as much to do we tend to get bored quickly there.
So Sorrento Positano prettier better for me.

Of course I'm biased - but for us it's been:
Ischia - several holidays, and now only two weeks short of nine years on the island
Capri - one daytrip long long ago, and another on escort-duty for a visiting friend in 2003.
Mind you, there are some interesting remain there - for those prepared to get beyond the glitz...

But perhaps, if I've not already suggested it, this guide to all three of the islands - from the Naples Chamber of Commerce - may help with your decision....
