I don't know about their availability in the US but Zloty are easily available in UK bureau de change so they can be traded internationally.
As well as changing money at home and the usual ATM route it seams that money changing is Poland's national pass-time - every third shop front is a "Kantor" most offering surprisingly good rates.

I don't think it will be that easy to get zloty in the US. I've brought them out so hope I'm not a criminal. Don't know why that would be true. Often there are limits on amount of currency you can bring in or out but I've not hear of zero for any European country.
I wouldn't spend my time trying to get zloty in the US, it will probably cost you a lot. You must be flying there, so get it in Poland. You can always get currency at airports.

We got about 100 dollars worth of zloty before we left as you never know what trouble our group can get into before we reach an ATM.
Tracy purchased our zloty at a currency exchange place in the World Trade Center in Los Angeles.
