I offered something interesting in Austria, including some of our favorite places (as per the OP request.) So what if it not their liking. The OP just seems to want to "check off countries."

some posters like exploring every village and town in a country,
(perhaps they have the time,)
others might have seen parts of a country and prefer to move on and experience something new.
Nothing wrong with "checking off countries".
One's " what is not to like" might be other's " not for me".

Fourfortravel thank you for your insight....I have spent some time in Austria before. I have been to Vienna, Salzburg , Halstatt and Salzkammergut. There is so much more to see in Austria but I would keep it for some other time, I want to visit a new country this time.

best thing in Scandinavia I've done was to take the Bergen Railway -one of the top scenic lines in Europe to Bergen then take the awesome fantastic Norway in a Nutshell loop from Bergen to the fjords and a boat ride around them.

It is an awesome boat ride Stockholm to Helsinki - nights are still long and you can ogle a terribly beautiful coast the whole way pratically

Can you give me a link where I can read more about this or any website which conducts this loop? Is the boat ride separate or is it part of this tour?

Sorry if Im totally clueless, have never been to these countries before so no idea how these things work

We have been to northern Spain twice in August. Yes, it's hot, but the scenery, the food, the wine, the beaches, the food... Did I mention the food? Check out San Sebastian. Trust me. (Do a Google Image search for San Sebastian.)

One of many but the original one I think:

https://www.norwaynutshell.com/?gcli...UaAiwgEALw_wcB

You can easily do it on your own too. Also check www.budgeteuropetravel.com -the Norway section of their European Planning & Rail Guide.

The boat ride is part of the Stockholm to Helsinki regular ferry service though there may be other boats that are merely excursions.

Not the Stockholm-Helsinki boat - that's from Sweden to Finland but the Norway In a Nutshell loop from Bergen does include a few-hour ride on Norway's largest fjord- we saw wales!

And Finland too - take that gorgeous boat ride to Helsinki or Turku!

But Scandinavia is expensive -especially if like to go out at night and restaurants but anyplace can be made affordable if you have to.

I count Finland as being Scandinavia as it's Scandinavia geographically although not linguistically. I also find it a nice country for travel.

Happy Travels!

Greece, then Greece, then Greece again!

Greece is one of Europe's best bargains, is safe, and offers thousands of years of history either on the mainland or islands.

Less expensive, but August will be High Season just about anywhere in Europe so expect higher prices and lots more tourists, but if you do your research you can find the more traditional areas of Greece that doesn't get the Santorini/Mykonos crowds but offers a more truer Greece.

While we have been to other parts of Europe and North America we find Greece to be just as good as anywhere in the World. Don't overlook some of the best food anywhere!
