Please help-Munich train ?
I will be arriving in Munich (9/27) via Salzburg on the train, which arrives at Hauptbauhnhof station in Munich. We are staying for one night (have an early LHR flight the next day) at Arabella Sheraton Airport, Freisinger Strasse 80. I am trying to figure out how to get there on the train from Hauptbahnhof. The hotel is telling me I need to take a train to the Airport then a cab to the hotel. It just seems that there might be a better way if we are willing to bus/train. Also, since we are in town during Oktoberfest we figured we'd hit the Tents for the day/evening. Any suggestions on train?
I am leaving on 9/19 so my time is limited. Any help anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.

Both the Bahn website and that of Munich metro (MVV) show that it is a 12 minute trip on bus 512 from the airport terminal to Hochstrasse in Oberding-Schwaig, and a 3 minute walk from there to the Hotel, on Freisinger Strasse. But, it looks like anyway you do it, the closest train (S-bahn) station to the hotel is at the airport.

Try this feature of the Deutsche Bahn site.
Go to http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de
Choose English as the language and click on "Advanced search. Enter Salzburg as the departure station, change the arrival from "Station/Stop" to "POI" (point of interest) and enter "Sheraton Airport Muenchen."
You will get connections from Salzburg to your hotel, including a map of how to walk from the bus stop.

Actually, I found the hotel website with the address and used the actual address instead of POI (don't know if it made a difference). You can also get the routing from MVV at www.mvv-muenchen.de (can be made to display in English).
Actually, you can get to the hotel without going first to the airport, but I think it is more complicated.
