Please help me decide on these hotels - rates posted

We are traveling to London in early June 2004. We have inquired with a few hotels about a triple ensuite and have received these rate quotes:

Ceasar Hotel 93 GBP
St. Margaret's 103.50 GBP
Edward Lear Hotel 79 GBP
Arran House 103 GBP
Ebury House Hotel 150 US
LunaSimone 100 GBP
Lime Tree 155 GBP

I am new to this board. I have been lurking for several weeks and have really enjoyed reading the posts.

Those rates seem really high to me for those hotels!

Don't worry now about a trip in 2004...you can get exceptional rates at really good hotels nuch closer to your dates! Wait till may and try www.londonnights.com, or www.laterooms.com, or others!

I agree these rates sound high. I would not wait til May though. Have you looked on lontown.com or londonnights.com?

I've stayed at the Lime Tree (years ago) & it was great & CHEAP. I think Rick Steves found them & it's now expensive. While they've renovated since then, I wouldn't pay 1555 GBP for it. The Ebury House is nearby (since the Lime Tree is on Ebury St.) I think I recall reading good things about St Margaret's.

How many days are you going to be in London? If you are there 5 nights, perhaps an apartment would be an idea. We rented one on Sloan Ave. in September and it worked out great.

Rachel, I went to www.londontown.com and put in an arbitrary date of 8 June 2004 for a triple ensuite. I got the following 4* hotels back:

Euston Plaza Hotel - 101 GBP
Gainsborough - 113 GBP
The Rubens - 115 GBP

So there are better choices out there for the money. I suggest you make a choice on a hotel that can be cancelled easily and keep checking for better rates and special deals at the better hotels.

The Rubens that Betty mentions gets very good reports on this board. Try looking on rants & raves here.

Also good feedback here on tripadvisor

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...n_England.html

You might want to check the hotel's own website for specials. One reviewer mentions a special 99GBP/night rate thta included extras for a double.

I also noticed St Margaret's was highly rated on tripadvisor & had a link for discount rates from there.
