I'd personally stay in Fionnphort - I just love the views across to Iona etc. But Tobermory is nice too.

Do you think it is a good idea to do 1 night on the mainland first, and then 2 nights on Mull before returning to Edinburgh?

JennaJ: Either way would work for me. 1 night on the mainland followed by 2 nights on Mull -- or -- 2 nights on Mull then 1 night on the mainland.

Thanks for all of the help. This is what I have booked:

Wednesday 8am, arrive in Edinburgh and visit castle and other sites. Be back at Radisson hotel on royal mile by 4 to get ready for dinner party.

Thursday, Edinburgh. Be ready for wedding by 1pm.

Friday 10am, pick up rental car from Waverly station. Drive to Oban and visit sites along the way. Drive the Glen Coe area. Stay in Oban. Hotel/B&B not booked yet.

Saturday, 9:30 ferry to Mull. Tour Mull for the day. Stay at Seaview for 2 nights.

Sunday, visit Staffa and Iona.

Monday, 11am ferry to Oban. Drive to Edinburgh and visit sites along the way. Drop off car at Waverly by 5pm.

Tuesday, 12:30 flight home.

QUESTIONS;
1) Is there a site in Edinburgh that we can visit on Thursday morning? We need to be ready for a wedding by 1, so we only have a few hours.

2) Can anyone provide suggested routes? We want to take the entire day driving around and end in Oban later in the evening. We want to visit the Glen Coe area as well. Also, we will have some time when driving back from Oban to Edinburgh if you have a suggested route for the return trip.
