planning trip / car rental

Hi, I am in process of planning trip im May. We have 10 days. Fly into Madrid - 2 days ? Want to see Prado. Train to Toledo for a night or 2 ? Take train to Cordoba, pick up car for tour of Andalucia area - want to stay in Rhonda - 2 nites ? Then on to Granada for 2 days and Seville 3 ? Return car where ? Understand it cost more to return you car elsewhere - but don't know how to avoid it. And then was reading that one should just do Cordoba from daytrip from Seville ? Please, if someone could fine tune this a bit .. Thank you.

Some car rental agencies do not charge a drop off fee. I know that Budget does not, but I remember reading that some others do not either.

It normally only costs more if you drop the car off in a different country. You should be able to leave it anywhere in Spain for no extra cost.

Marcie, the cost is no more in Spain. I would train as far as Seville or Granada and only get the car when you leave there.

Check with Auto Europe (autoeurope.com) regarding a rental. They are a broker and deal with several agencies. Most rental car companies require a minimum 3-day rental, but a drop-off fee will depend on where you are dropping the car off. If it is at a high-volume location (airport or other major destination), then there shouldn't be an additional fee involved.

For what you are showing for your itinerary, there shouldn't be a problem dropping the car off at the Seville airport, or downtown.
