Hi.
The Colloseum, the Forum (or the Forae, if you will, Imperial and Roman), the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, St. Peter's Basilica, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Borghese Gallery, the Vatican Museum, and the Borghese Park are all great places to start. Some are indoors, some are outdoors, so if weather isn't that great on 1 or more of your days, you've a range of indoor and outdoor sites to explore.

Buon Viaggio,
BC

Of course, it depends on where you are staying, but you can walk to most of them.
Between the buses and the metro, you can get to the sites that are not within walking distance.
The old part of the city, which contains a lot of the A list sites, is fairly compact.
