bob and franco- I'm looking for an apt myself, and I may be missing something, but I find the website for this apt lacking. I don't see any "real" photos of the rooms, rather "artsy" photos instead.

The website states "sleeps 2 to 3", but no further information. There will be 3 of us, and I've no idea what kind/size of beds/pullouts there are in the unit.

Additionally, pics of the kitchen. I really like pics of the kitchen. That being said, I know how you love to cook, franco, so I can surmise the kitchen is passable?

Any further input you two have, or pics of the interior, would be most appreciated!

Grazie!

Sarge, I'm not sure if you are committed to the Rosa d Venezia, or if you are still loking around. We've stayed here and found the kitchen more than passable. Sleeps two in a bedroom, plus a decent fold out couch (in the second or top floor apartment). The terrace outside is great too.

The kitchen is tiny. Not small, tiny, mind you. But it's really pretty (beautiful red stone floor, stainless steel countertop), and pretty well-equipped. I've been preparing all the recipes given on this thread http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...estaurants.cfm there, so you can figure what is possible. What I don't prepare there is home-made ravioli; I need more room for that.
As far as the "not real" pictures, I'm afraid I don't get the point. That's simply how the apartment looks, very precisely, so IMO, that's exactly how "real pictures" are defined.

As far as beds, the conjugal bed is huge - certainly larger than the kitchen Seriously, it's probably the largest bed I've ever slept in. I've never used the third bed, which is a sofa bed in the "living room" part of the apartment; I've never opened it, so can't tell anything about it.

Ah yes, and by the way, there's another very serious cook on Foddor's who loves to travel to Venice for cooking: roamer. If you search for her name, you'll easily find a thread where she tells at which apartment she's usually staying - that one must have a good kitchen, too. - Though it has no food processor, other than the Rosa. I once discussed that with roamer

The kitchen and bathroom are both smaller than I like.
The bed is gigantic, but the feature of this place is the location and the wonderful balcony over the canal. You may find better apartments but not with that view or location.

We stayed at Hotel Wildner and found it delightful and very convenient. Staff was all pleasant and helpful. It is close to San Marco and there are several vaporetto stops close by, making it easy to go almost anywhere. It also has a very good restaurant which made grabbing the free breakfast and hitting the road easy and proved very nice when we had been walking all day and just didn't think we could tackle another adventure. It is on the lagoon and has spectacular views.

Thanks for the info, gentlemen. I think I'll look for something a bit bigger.

By the way, I have twice rented a fabulous place in Cannaregio. It is perfect for two people who do not want to share a room. It is on the ground floor, and all the windows look out onto canals. The bedroom and large bath look out onto the Misericordia. Love this apartment and will continue to rent in when we are only two.

But I will there in the fall with an adult daughter and an adult cousin. And while none of us really wants to share a room, my DD says she'll share a room with my cousin. hahaha (She says I snore! How rude! ahhahah)

Thanks again!
