I think I'm going to start a new more relevant thread for this parking question, I've gotten kind of off topic

But I would still love to hear some options for a stop between Venice and Castellina in Chianti. Maybe Lamole for lunch and Greve for shopping?

If you can time it right, I think lunch in Lamole would be fantastic. Other options-

Panzano- There are a few choices in this very small town.
Osteria della Piazza- just off the S222 and south of Panzano. Look for the sign indicating Piazza. Outdoor seating with a nice view.
Volpaia- This is a small, beautiful village with a great restaurant and also a bar with outside seating that serves excellent, inexpensive, casual food.

You might have to have a few options so you can have the flexibility to stop when it's lunch time and not have to stress about getting to one place by a certain time.

Enjoy!

Options is a good idea!

I have La Bottega in Volpaia earmarked, is this the restaurant you were thinking of?

Sorry, I don't have any lunch suggestions for you, but I am sure others can help.

Love Fiesole! If you cannot drive it,just take the local bus from the David accademia for 12 minutes and enjoy a gorgeous view, ruins and a glass of wine overlooking the Duomo!

Thanks dutyfree, great idea! Gives us a second chance if it's not a clear day on the way from Venice to Chianti, but it is clear on our day in Florence

Zoecat ~ I made reservations at La Bottega for lunch after our wine tour at Castello di Volpaia on another day. YUM!

When we leave Venice we are going to plan to stop by Fiesole if it's not pouring down rain, it sounds like fun. And it would be about the right time to get out and stretch our legs and have a light lunch. After that we'll head down the SS222 to Greve and Panzano to pick up supplies for our apartment.

Thanks for your help, we leave in a little over 2 weeks!

Visit Piazzale Michelangelo but consider eating at Trattoria Omero - http://www.ristoranteomero.it/

This is above the Piazzale at Pian dei Giullari near Arcetri wher Gallileo had his observatory. Also Leonardo da Vinci once lived just across from the trattoria which dates back to their time so it is certain that they would have eaten there. The food - typical florentine - is excellent too.
