Piazza Novona hotel

My wife and I are ending a 14 day stay in Amalfi area with two days in Rome. We wish to stay near the Piazza Novona. We would appreciate any suggestions for moderatley priced accommidations

Hi skye,

There have been about a dozen threads on this subject.

Try a search for [hotel AND navona]

In October we stayed in Residenza Canali which was right around the corner from Piazza Nuvona. It was a great location and we were pleased with the rooms - I think it cost about 170E per night / you can get a discount if you pay cash.

Hi.

The Hotel Genio is about a half-block from P.N. The rack rate is about 230 euros for a double but I'm sure a discount site could get it for less.

This is a perfect location for walking to a lot of the major tourist sites. You can also get a Herald-Tribune across the street at the news stand.

Skye,

We stayed at the Cesari which is about a 10 minute walk to Piazza Novana & about 5 minutes to Trevi in November 2004. This was a fantastic hotel & a great location.

Have a great trip.

NOT Novana or Novona or Nuvona. It is Piazza NAVONA. (This is intended only as an aid to anyone who might want to do a search, as suggested above -- you'll get much better results with Ira's correct spelling than with the other, creative versions.)

We also stayed at the Canali ai Coronari in October this year. Had a room on the 4th floor with a terrace. Room was large and pleasant. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. And...the location was wonderful - just steps to Piazza Navona and within walking distance of all major sites in the city. Would definitely recommend it. Please note, however, there is no elevator in this hotel if that may be a problem for you.

In 2002, we stayed at an "Instituto" on a side street from Piazza Navona (so one blck away). The instituto was part of the catholic church. Price was $80 per night with breakfast for a triple (maybe quad. can't remember that). An old villa and with these rates there were some back packing, twenty somethings staying there (absolutely nothing wrong with that).

I can't find the name (yet. I will look a little more).

We stayed at the Hotel Portoghesiin July and thought it was a nice, clean place, relatively close (about 2 blocks) from the Piazza Navona. http://www.hotelportoghesiroma.com/e.../homepage.html

Had to laugh at "kayd's" post. I am fussy about spelling so maybe appreciated it more than someone else might.

Kayd, you missed one, how about "nirvana?"

Don't stay at Canali ai Coronari if noise at night bothers you. The location is terrific but we were not pleased with the hotel. Click on my name and read my latest trip report. We were just there 2 weeks ago.

That's interesting. We were there in October. It was very warm and we left our terrace door open all night - there was no noise. We loved the Canali, the location, staff, room, and would recommend it.

Hotel Teatro Pace! It is in a great location, great staff, cleanliness and overall standards, it made our trip such a good experience! They are reasonable for the area AND worth it too! WE paid EURO130 per night per room double w/bathroom and breakfast delivered to room (no dining room) for two adults and a three year old sharing.

We just came back from Italy last week. Stayed at the TeatroPace in Rome for a week. Got a great rate over web for $100 Euro/night. Previous poster is right on. Great staff. Great rooms and the location cannot be beat. It is about 400 meters from Bernini's Statue.
