Parking in Cassis

My friend and I would like to visit Cassis for a day trip in mid March. I have read that it is difficult to drive into Cassis because of the hills.

Where should we park and how difficult is it to get to the port from the parking lot?

Thank you for your help! Laurie

I drove into Cassis for a day trip 2 years ago at the end of June. I had no trouble negotiating the hills whatsoever. There were no scary hairpin turns. We got the last available parking space in a paid parking lot on the left as you drive down the hill (on the main street) into town. The town isn't that large & it was just a 10 minute walk down to the port. The town is adorable. 4 of us went on a boat trip into the calanques - just gorgeous with crystal clear torquoise water. Our other friend who suffers from sea sickness went to the casino instead & won about $800 US. Needless to say, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch portside on her winnings!

I agree that there is nothing difficut about the drive into Cassis. The appraoch from the east has a spectacular clifftop route but not dificult to drive. If you want to park in Cassis it is a good idea to get there as early as possible as it is very popular and has very limited parking.

We have driven to Cassis a couple of times from the Luberon. The drive is easy and well-marked. I would recommend parking at La Viguerie. As you drive into Cassis, just watch for the signs to this pay parking garage. There are about 300 spaces. From there it is an easy five minute walk down to the harbor.

We had no trouble parking there in July or September, arriving about 11 am both times. I don't think you'll have any problem in March!

Thank you so much for your replies. This doesn't sound like it is going to be very difficult after all.

Thanks again for your help, Dee Dee, Greg and Kathy.
