Paris- Where to buy a painting?

Everywhere we go, we like to buy a painting from street artists. I'm thinking Montmartre or George Pompidou (outside the Centre of course). Budget: 100 euros . Any suggestions? I'm not opposed to small galleries.

We buy art - but usually folk art or crafts wherever we travel. Many of the governments sponsor selected art/craft people and h ave shops with reasonably priced items. But we've also bought items from street artists - some that we really liked, for prices form $15 up to abut $75. But, this is just pretty decoration - have never seen anything in an actual gallery that was anywhere our price range ($200 and under) - not even pottery.

Monmartre has a host of artists that turn out reasoanbly attractive works - but don't know about your budget.

There's an artists squat building on rue de Rivoli, you can't miss it as it's decorated and you can visit the different artists who sell their paintings.

Among much crap, I've always been able to find a few jewels at Place du Tertre in Montmartre. There aren't many places like this in big cities anymore but Place du Tertre still manages to attract some very real talent. I absolutely love the pieces I have found there and they were all ridiculously priced. I would have happily paid much more.

Paris has many wonderful small galleries. It's worth doing the research and discovering for yourself.

There is an arts and craft market every Saturday on Blvd Richard Lenoir at Bastille. Also check out the Market at Porte de Vanves for older originals.

Thanks everyone for the input! Too bad our trip is not in May...We will be in Paris the first week of August before heading to Vimy to visit the memorial and on to Honfleur. Then, we found a possible B&B in Saint-Aubain to visit the Normandie beaches etc. We are also planning to visit la Bretagne (Brittany) as we have never been there but have a feeling we will love it. Our itinerary is not complete as another couple might join us. This will be our second visit to France. The last time, I put all my money on lingerie and jewellery...this time I'm adding more art.
