Paris, St Tropez Apartment Rentals
We (2 couples) are planning to spend a week in Paris folowed by a week in St Tropez. We are thinking about renting apartments in both Paris (5th or 6th arrondisemont) and St. Tropez this time, rather than staying in hotels. I would appreciate any recommendations that you have.
Thanks

I used rentparis.com for a month's stay in Paris (haven't been to St Tropez) and the managers were excellent. You might check their website for apartments. They had a lot in the Marais (3/4 arr.) which I would like (my stay was in the 7th). If you put "Paris apartments" in the word search area of Fodor's you'll come up with tons of apartment sites and advice. If you have any questions about my rental, please e-mail me at [email protected]

In June we have rented a house in Provence for two weeks. At the end of the two weeks we will be in Paris for a few days and have rented privately from a US couple who own two apartments. In fact, we found them through this website. Their website is http://www.lacigaleparis.com/
The contact is Randy Smith and their email address is [email protected].
Their apartments are well located, newly furnished and decorated and well priced. The communication has been excellent and we're confident we'll be pleased. Both are in the 6th.

There are a lot of shortterm apt. rental agencies in Paris, I have had good experiences with PSR (Paris Sejour Reservation), Locaflat and France Homestyle. There are so many others, though. I can tell you that some very nice ones I saw which weren't quite right for me, but right near the Sorbonne (5th) were on www.rentinparis.com. Their prices were excellent and the quality looked much better than some you see.
I've seen the Randall Smith web site and those apts do look nice, however neither is in the 6th. The larger one is actually in the 13th arr. on bd Marcel (that address is the south side, which is the 13th) and the smaller is on ave des Gobelins, the very bottom of the 5th near the 13th. Bd Marcel is the border of the 5th and 13th. Apparently he is adding another one in the 6th, but it isn't apparently ready yet. As I said, they do look pretty nice and that is a decent neighborhood, but it may not be what a first-timer to Paris is expecting who wants to stay in the 5th/6th. They look a little expensive to me in comparison to other places.

I stand corrected. Christina is right. I forget that sometimes the other side of the street has an arrondisement change! We were limited in our choices because we needed a 2 bedroom for only 3 nights and most rentals have a one week minimum. So, yes, I think we are paying a bit of a premium compared to some others which look just as nice or nicer or were more cenrally located.
We looked at apartments through:
www.justfranceinparis.com
www.servissimo.com
www.apartment-living.com
www.barclayweb.com
www.chezvous.com
www.wwvh.com
www.franceforrent.com
www.forparis.com

Gayle, it isn't even near the 6th at all -- it is in-between the 13th and the 5th. It sounds like you know where they are, but from your comments, I didn't want you to think you were near or across the street from the 6th and be disappointed. The 6th is rather far away from that location.
You're right that most rentals want at least a week, so that would limit choices, though. I think that studio is overpriced the most, myself, especially renting directly from the owners. But, they do look of good quality so I hope you have a nice time.
