Paris Short-Term Apartment Rentals
Just secured our flights to Paris, arriving on September 11, 2012. This morning I sent off an email to Paris Best Lodge requesting a one bedroom apartment in St. Germain & received a prompt reply informing me that all their flats are booked for my time frame. The thought of having to begin the arduous search for a short-term (10 nights) rental again makes me want to cry!
Any recommendations for a reputable rental company or specific apartments in the Latin Quarter or St Germain in the range of 1200-1500€ per week? Any help to expedite the process would be gratefully appreciated!
Thanks!

I do not, but I imagine folks are going to recommend you read the Paris Apt Rental thread as it gives people's recommendations. No one is going to know what will be available for your dates, but I am very surprised nothing is available one year in advance, actually. That's a year off so during your arduous search, I would only presume you already looked at a lot of places and had a short list, didn't you? If you only picked one agency and said give me anything, that didn't take any time at all, so I'm not clear on why you don't have backups from your first arduous search.
Anyway, if you haven't seen that thread, I'm sure someone can find it for you, and then you'll get recommendations for specific flats, but you'll still have to go through it.
There are lots of reputable rental companies, why don't yo ufind their websites and limit it by price and area, that won't be too bad. That thread can be used for agencies or see www.slowtrav.com for some agency comments.

My 'arduous search' included reading Paris apartment rental threads here & checking/cross-checking countless numbers of websites for a rental property! It really was a tedious process!
I guess it was unfortunate that we had chosen 3 other apartments from Paris Best Lodge as alternatives. We were surprised to find out that there was NO availability at all within our time period! And I guess I am still reeling from that news!
Is Paris in September THAT busy???

I am going in October 2011 and renting from Paris Address. I had great service from them in May 2010. I've also rented from Paris Rental Connections in October 2008 and was very satisfied, but they have a much smaller selection than Paris Address.
I'm sure with your budget you'll find something really nice!

Are you set on those areas? We stayed in a great apt in the Le Marais this past May and the price was half what you want to pay for a huge, fully equipped apt with a great owner who was really wonderful to work with and the location is tops.

I have not stayed with Haven in Paris but tried to reserve their La Grange apartment for next month but it was already booked when I inquired last spring. It is already booked for one week in Sept. 2012. The same happened with another apartment with Vacation in Paris. The good apartments are booked far in advance but we were fortunate to book a small apartment with Paris Perfect.

WOW,an entire year ahead and they were booked?
Try Vacation in Paris for your time frame. Hopefully you will be luckier than Scootoir, above. VIP's prices are in USD, and the list of flats is divided by arrondissement and # of bedrooms. Most are well within your price range. Send them an email with your dates and requirements, and they respond within a day of all places that are available.
Here's one example in St Germain (and it has an elevator--bravo!)This is a one bedroom; your post didnt specify how much room you need.

Also, have you searched Flipkey?
Good luck!

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions!
THE GOOD NEWS: I received a follow-up email from Parisbestlodge this morning explaining that there is availability for our dates! The fact that the request was for 2012 was initially missed!
A happy ending!

Good News, 2010. That was going to be my suggestion to you, contact them again and verify your year. I had the same thing happen to me last year with VIP. When they notified me all options selected were booked, I resent the request with the note to confirm the YEAR, and our first choice was available.

I was prepared to reply to Parisbestlodge expressing my disappointment that there was no availability. Perhaps, the date would have been noticed then. Nice to know that the oversight was caught before I sent off my email!
I'm happy to report that everything else in my dealings with Thierry @ Parisbestlodge has been professional & efficient.
It's exciting to have the Paris portion of our France trip arranged!

Try perfectlyparis.com. Gail is the property manager for all the places, they are all individually owned and immaculate.
They have their availability viewable on the site - really great places in awesome locations. I am staying in one of the apartments in a few weeks.

Deb, I'm looking for a place in Paris next year and I checked the one you recommended. Looks good. I have a couple of questions, do you know the minimum nights requirement and was 4th floor actually the 5th and how were the stairs?

SAB - no minimum.
It is actually the 4th, second to top floor. {French 3rd, US 4th} The steps were doable. It wasn't my favorite thing, but everything else about apt made it worthwhile.
If you want, I have drawn a floorplan and I can email it to you. Use this screen name at gmail dot com. It makes it easier to figure out the layout.
