Adrian is always interesting. Referencing Nazis in her efforts to promote her own self interest is over the top, even for her.
When more serious discussion appeared here and in other forums several years ago about the vacation rental market, some posters initially refused to believe that there was even any effort by the French government to regulate the activity, denied that neighbors were inconvenienced or concerned by a constant coming and going of vacationers in their buildings, and didn´t really care that rental revenues were not being reported to tax authorities by apartment owners as long as their was access to relatively cheap accommodations while one was on vacation.
There are a lot of different interests on all sides of the rental apartment issue but the French government has indeed enacted legislation which outlines how the industry is required to operate. Part of that legislation obligates local authorities to make available, to the public, a list of those properties which are in full compliance with the law. The list allows owners to assure potential renters that the properties being offered to them are legitimate and legal.
Obviously, those who take shortcuts or who operate on the legal fringe will not like a widely accessible reference that exposes them. Critics of such a list tend to be those whose financial interests are threatened by its use.
France is not trying to eradicate the vacation rental business. It is trying to legitimize the industry, balance the needs of its citizens vs those of its visitors, and establish a set of ground rules which everyone understands and follows.
Adrian prefers her own rules.

Adrian should then go to Philippines.
If she finds the mayor of Paris a SS, she will like their president Duterre ? who said the Pope was a son of a b*.
I never met her (thought she was a 'h' as Adrian in French is male) but she looks like the prefect caricature of the US citizen wanting to pass for a French towards fellow US who have never been to France (following ?).
And if she has been so long in France and cannot understand a law written in French, maybe she should get another job.

My Two Cents:
We have stayed in PP apartments three times.
First time was back in 2008.
We are scheduled to stay again nect month.
We have noticed that our new unit (which we previewed when we were in France in APril) did not have a shopping cart,
The cart is a small thing, but every other unit has had one, and these carts used to be staples of PP apts.
The website used to tell how the apartments all had AMerican styled mattresses and 80 gallon water tanks.
Theses features are now absent.
In addition, the site used to explain how your unit would be cleaned every week if you stayed over two weeks.
Now onger is this on the site.
I inquited with Lisa, who is at the "office" a rather shady looking venue, and she was noncommittal about the cleaning. However she did agree to get a cart for us--but this was said as though it was a gift bestowed.
We are staying for five weeks.
So PP has certainly cur back on its offerings.
The mattress, while new, is not comfy looking.
The apartment, however, looks lovely.

I had a 100-liter tank in my apartment but when I had to replace it last year, I chose a 50-liter tank instead, which is enough for my needs.
Fuzzbucket, I think that the only people with instant hot water are using gas. The trend is more to all electric now since modern installations have a 35% lower energy bill than apartments using gas, not the mention the fossil fuel factor.

Paris Perfect does have some apts with 80 gallon water tanks.
AS for what is an American-styled mattress? I have no idea, I could see if they just referred to American terminology so their clients, who are often American, know what they mean (ie, "queen bed"), or if they referred to the sizes in inches as well as cm. Otherwise, I don't know. But who knows, their clientele may just like American brands so it was just some marketing pitch that they had American branded mattresses.

My instant hot water heater uses electricity. I only have gas for the radiators and my stove.
You can purchase reasonable facsimiles of US-style mattresses from Compagnie du Lit, Ikea, Galeries Lafayette and BHV - if you don't mind paying 1500 - 2000 € for a one-sided mattress.
Good luck trying to get sheets that are "deep" enough to fit the thickness of the mattress, though.

I am staying in an apartment in Paris at the moment. This is our fifth stay and we will continue to return as long as we are able to rent an apartment in an area we desire for a price we can afford. Hotels do not figure in our plans, we rent apartments where ever we go.... for comfort and price......in the U.K., France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Canada and Australia
The following I copied from a real estate ad here today:
"This impressive property is housed inside one of the Marais district’s historic private mansions, the Hotel Jean Bart, dating from 1620 and listed as a historic monument. On the 3rd floor with an elevator, the apartment offers a large living room with a beautiful working fireplace, an open kitchen and close to 5m high ceilings. Separated bedroom with an office area and a large ensuite bathroom. Completely redesigned by an interior designer of international renown. Sold with commercial zoning – perfect high-income short term rental investment."
Note the last line.

So it is "I want what I want" . . . and local laws be damned???
I would LOVE to rent apartments in Paris and have done several times -- but I have adapted and will stay in hotels or aparthotels until the situation makes renting apartments legal again.
AFAIK 'commercial zoning' does not clarify that it would be a legal rental.

Wo, give it a rest, eh? He didn't even win the majority of votes, and I'm more pissed off about it than you are, believe me. I don't need your puerile digs on every single thread.
OTOH, thanks for the dog whistle, SHEFRA. All the usual suspect came running, lol.
