No, the bank owns its own space. In fact, it used to own the entire building, which it sold off little by little. Now it is down to about 45% but the rest of us have a great advantage because for the last 20 years, it has given its voting rights to the rest of us automatically. It might decide that this was a mistake after the next vote.

Sue - the government is not interested in running the vacation rental industry. The government is interested in collecting taxes on revenue received, assuring that salaries and benefits are paid, and that rentals meet standards for safety and sanitation.

The business models of AirBnB and Uber do not support these issues, and though they are very popular at the present time, the long-term effect on the economy would be disastrous. It would be as if you stopped paying into your retirement fund - when the time came, you'd have nothing.

AirBnB pays the required "hotel tax" to The City in San Francisco. They even had to "back pay" for taxes for the period where they didn't pay taxes. I think it was a "negotiated" settlement - but the City got the better deal, as I recall. Also remember that AirBnB is a San Francsico company and donates a lot of money to politicians & "charities".

The data base for legal apartments in Paris is now accessible, but there are only 107 apartments on it so far.

I am sure that all of Paris Perfect´s apartments are on the list.

I am not sure how you would ever know if your apartment is on the list. I tried to follow the links and gave up. If it's there, they have hidden it from me

We need an edit button. I found the link! But it must be popular because it's very slow.

That said I pulled up one ParisPerfect and ... I think it's on the list (It's hard to be sure since ParisPerfect does not give you an address, but it's definitively on the same street in the same area. That's a good sign!)


I also don't think the apartment I nearly rented from another agency is on the list. I kind of expected that.

Same street? I think the only way to get an address is after you pay and then it is sometimes pretty general.

I found a couple I've rented from Paris Vacation Apartments on the list.

Well I changed my mind. Paris Perfect shows about 6 units in the area where the map shows one. Hmmm.....

I think this is just the list of legal AirBnB listings. I didn't see any mention about any other agencies. If I'm wrong about this, someone please correct me.

I'm certain there may be several units at the same address.....this list doesn't specify.

fuzzbucket, they don't have to actually run it, they would just redirect from the master list to the individual websites (or emails, or phone numbers). It would still be up to the vendor to collect the rents and to submit taxes.

Many Canadian provinces have for decades published a list of rentals in order to promote tourism. This would be just a variation of the same thing.

That is a federation. It can but mustn't be state owned, or directed or even followed by the state.

Is it a safe assumption that, if an address is on the list, that the building does not prohibit short term rentals?
