I am up and going today.
I must say my departure from Paris was certainly smooth. Shuttle-Inter had called and asked if they could pick me up at 7:00 instead of 7:30. They wanted to pick me up in a Mercedes sedan rather than a van. Fine with me. They arrived 5 min. early. I was at the airport at 7:30 and at gate by 8:15, which included some shopping along the way. The check in was simple..Medallion staus helps that a lot. CDG is certainly lovely and easy. ATL was a mess and I feel lucky that I got home last night.
I was up before 4:00 this morning. Went out for breakfast, picked up a ton of mail that was held at the PO for me. Still going through it. Had appt. to pick up cats at 10.00. They are home now..somewhat avoiding me. I went to the grocery store and did some shopping, to the bank to put money in it. Have not touched or even unlocked large suitcase yet. Oh, remember those great porcelain knobs. 3 of them will be great on some drawers in my bathroom..center drawers one under the other. I have to enlarge the holes a bit for the metric bolts.
I have accomplished quite a bit.
I amy have a hitch in my plan after the first of the year. Have some family health problems that may curtail my travel for a while. Will just have to play it by ear.

Joan,
So glad to hear you made it home safely, but am sorry to hear about the family health problems. I hope it ends up being nothing too serious and that you'll soon be back in planning mode for your next trip. Please keep in touch.

Joan,
I miss my daily Paris fix. Thankyou for taking me with you. I hope your family health matters clear up quickly and you will be enjoying Paris again soon.
As an aside, my daughter lives in Asheville and we do get up there during the summer, it such a great place to live and visit.

Hi Joan, Sorry to hear things are not Honky Dory - Also, I hope your kitties come round to schmoosing up to your leg real soon!
I am already worried about Sabastian my Burmese for the 5 week stay at Cat Hotel par excellance, in 2010. This year he had two visits of 5 weeks and then 2 weeks. The latest one brought him home with what the owner called "cat sneezes".
She had him on anti-biotics but the moment I whisked him away he went straight to our vet who for the next 5 days injected him daily to keep him eating. (Can't smell - can't eat!)
It took exactly a month before I knew he would pull through!
The moment I knew? When he bit me!!!!!! (15 year old teenager!)

Remember the porcelain knobs that I bought at the brocante on rue Cler? I have used them. Had to enlarge the holes a bit for metric size. I got my handy drill out, charged it and all worked out well. 3 that were alike went in my bathroom and 2 that were alike went in guest bathroom. Another two will go in my kitchen when I receive some ordered backplates. I did take some pics..you can enlarge by clicking on the two direction arrows..5 pics.

What's great about the vessel sik, is the matching waterfall faucet, as seen in this picture, with the water running: http://tinyurl.com/yz3bj4q
This outfit: http://www.rensup.com/
They have so much stuff..look in the plumbing for the vessel sinks and matching waterfall faucets...the prices are amazing and free shipping. The people are soooo nice to deal with, too. I have what I call royal blue ones about to be installed in my bathroom. They will be nice!

Bonjour à tous!
Just wanted to add that I had a great time in Paris with Joan. It was lovely to meet Florent, Michael, Stu & Ellen and, briefly, Weekender.
I'll post later about my few days in Lyon - a beautiful city, but C-O-L-D! It actually snowed a bit on Wednesday but didn't stick. I'd love to go back there some time in warmer weather.
My return trip was a bit of an adventure. I was scheduled to leave Paris yesterday at 1:05 pm. I left Lyon on the TGV at 7:56 am as scheduled (almost got on the wrong train because I read Voie G as Voie C!) and arrived at CDG at 10:00. The tranfer from the TGV station to terminal 1 was easy on the CDGVal. Of course, I knew that my flight to Philadelphia was likely to be delayed because of the snow in Paris and it was. We finally took off about 5:00 pm (sat on the plane for 2 hours!). The pilot did a good job of making up some time in flight but I stll missed my connection to SC. I must say that US Airways treated us well - a free night at the Sheraton and a $10.00 meal voucher. And they put me on a flight to Greenville, SC this morning at 9:14 am. Since I had planned to spend the night in Greenville anyway (left my car at the Best Western there - cheaper than airport parking!), I got home only a couple of hours later than I would have with my original plan. All around, I think I was pretty lucky.
To Joan - all I can say is "merci beaucoup," although that seems very inadequate. Sorry your return trip was a hassle. Your porcelain knobs look great in your bathrooms and kitchen. You have a wonderful flair for decorating. And thanks for the lovely Christmas card. I'll be in touch soon by email.
I'll post separately about my time in Lyon.

Hello Joan,
I'm in Paris!
Flew out late from Los Angeles 2 1/2 hours due to weather in Paris as the plane we were to board was coming in from Paris and was running late due to the snow. To boot Shuttle-Inter did not come through. Service advised that they were told that our flight was canceled due to the weather. It was a huge problem as I am traveling with my 75 year old mother, etc. Air France changed our flight number by adding an "A" to the number and then reported canceled in France. Not on the US website but on the Paris website or so I was told by Shuttle-Inter. We waited at the airport for over 1 1/2 hours for a pickup when I just called Paris Perfect and Carolyn simply suggested I/we take a taxi. The PP representative mentioned that I may want to schedule Victor for the return to CDG which I may just do.
Have been here two full days in COLD COLD Paris but I must say it is beautiful. We saw it snow today which is a big deal for girls from Los Angeles. We went to the Christmas Markets and we rode the Ferris Wheel. We are now in our warm cozy apartment overlooking the Eiffel Tower and all is magical.
Joan, I hope you are well and happy to be home.
