Paris- L'Osteria/L'Os a Moelle
Any opinions on either of these restaurants? Also considering Granidorge for a trip to Paris Thanksgiving week. Any opinions or suggestions welcome. We are hoping to find some interesting places with reasonable access from George V hotel that are not too expensive (i.e. 100-120 euro for two rather than 400).<BR>Thanks.

L'Os a Moelle is a good place that served, last time I went, one menu. So, it's like going to someone's house for dinner. It's a great way to discover new things and everytime we've gone it' been very good. you have to reserve. L'Osteria is an expensive Italian in the Marais.I personally think there are French restaurants that would be more worth your while while you are in France; yer mileage may vary. Have a great time! PS-avoid the trendy, souless restaurants--and there are many--on ave George V).

Thanks Francesca. I am absolutely trying to avoid the expensive, touristy places. I had not quite tuned into Osteria being Italian. I can go to Italy for that. Any other suggestions from anyone for good, decently priced bistros or new-ish restaurants gratefully appreciated.

Sunday's NYTimes reviewed Ze Kitchen Gallery a new place on Quai du Grandes Augustins in the 6th and it sounded very good and in your price range. We're going later this month and after extensive research I've picked out Cartet in the 11th, Petit Marguery in the 13th and La Regalade in the 14th, Mavromatis, a Greek place in the 5th, La Parmenteir in the 10th, and Chez Vong an old favorite Chinese with beautiful decor in the 1st. Info on all but La Parmentier available on Via Michelin and several have entries in the Paris Bistro book by Hamburger.

Half the fun is finding restaurants in other parts of the city. These are easy to find via the Metro: La Table d'Aude, in St. Germain de Pres, near Luxembourg Gardens. Regional cuisine with things you won't find in many many other restaurants. Another fun one is: Les fous d'en Face, which is in the Marais near City de Ville (?) metro stop. Kind of rustic, cosy and friendly. There's a good book called Bistros of Paris by Chris and Barbara Hamburger which lists both of these. I'd trust them for other suggestions, too.
