Hi Christina, Indeed, it doesn't look like anything is interesting right out the door in that area (Metro: Picpus). To me, it isn't a big deal as the sights are only about 15 min away by subway, which can be accessed steps from the hotel.
I have seen a lot of good apartments (not hotels) in more central areas for 85-90 euros. However, with only 1 month away, afraid I'm too late for those this time.

Solar Hotel was my first choice - very rare for a decent hotel with good loc & breakfast incl all for 69 euros. It was not available for my dates though. If I go back to Paris, I'll try to book that first thing next time.
