For hotel area I have no idea. I guess where the most restaurants are, or acces to transportation.

August is a very hot month in Paris. Apart from that, it's a nice time to go. The city is moderately quiet because many residents are on vacation (but the tourists are still there). Most places don't close in August like they used to. Apart from the heat, the weather tends to be sunny and dry.

Thanks. if it's dry that's fine. humidity is the one that I can't stand. Great to know that places stay open.

I've only been to Paris once and it was in August. It was lovely (but I would make sure you have A/C in your hotel).

the i remember 7 rain free days when i went in august.if your hotel has AC you will be ok.

Dry heat (lack of humidity) and dry weather (lack of rain) are two completely different things! I don't think you can count on particularly low humidity in August in Paris. But a/c will help by at least allowing you to sleep in comfort.
