Paris in August
I know it's not the best time to go, but it's when the wife wants to go. Any recommendations as far as hotel? Good restaurants. This is our honeymoon so...
|
People will be happy to help if you can provide some parameters--
how many night? Hotel budget per night? What area are you interested in for a hotel? What kinds of restaurants are you interested in--casual? fancy? Michelin-starred? If you need some basic info on Paris in order to get started, click at the top of this screen on Destinations. |
makes sense.
we have about 7-8 nights. would prefer to stay below $200 pernight. For hotel area I have no idea. I guess where the most restaurants are, or acces to transportation. we can do casual, but would like to go with some romantic places as this is our honeymoon. Am reading the destinations area as well. My main concern is that in August I hear Paris is quiet 'cause everyone is on holiday. cheers. |
"the wife" ?!?
those are swear words around our office. ;) |
Apologies, but uh...technically she will be. I wouldn't be offended if she called me the Idiot. Believe me ;-)
Suggestions for alternative naming schemas are welcome. |
August is a very hot month in Paris. Apart from that, it's a nice time to go. The city is moderately quiet because many residents are on vacation (but the tourists are still there). Most places don't close in August like they used to. Apart from the heat, the weather tends to be sunny and dry.

Thanks. if it's dry that's fine. humidity is the one that I can't stand. Great to know that places stay open.
cheers. |
I've only been to Paris once and it was in August. It was lovely (but I would make sure you have A/C in your hotel).

the i remember 7 rain free days when i went in august.if your hotel has AC you will be ok.

Imorti, your comment re alternative naming schemes has me laughing out loud. I am a bit worried about your username, though, in light of your impending honeymoon. ;-)

Dry heat (lack of humidity) and dry weather (lack of rain) are two completely different things! I don't think you can count on particularly low humidity in August in Paris. But a/c will help by at least allowing you to sleep in comfort.
