It looks like FF seats are available which I am surprised at.

Could that be because a whole bunch of people erroneously believe that August is not a good time to go there? See? You win again!

As seen on the Tour de France yesterday there are several neat rides in the Tuileries this summer - some of a thrill nature.

We loved Paris in August in 2012, although some restaurants were closed for the whole month. We did stay in 13th arrondisement, which is away from the tourist attractions for the most part. Paris was dreamy and there were still plenty of tourists there, IMHO.

There are now 3 open-air swimming pools at La Villette.
Free to the public, showers, bring towels and toiletries and a 1€ coin to store your stuff.
If it rains too much, the pools won't be available due to changes to bacteria levels.

We also partook in sitting on a beach near the Seine, when we were there:

Paris Plages at the Bassin de la Villette in the 19th has multiple water activities, including swimming in 3 pools in the canal -- also all kinds of little boats, kayaks, electric boats, rowboats, not to mention a zip line across the canal that the children adore.

No sand this time down by Hotel De Ville...
It appears that sand is an endangered resource - plus budget concerns to provide 10 tonnes of the stuff.

According to Wikipedia: "The beaches were built free of charge by LafargeHolcim from 2002 to 2017, when the city of Paris discontinued their contract in retaliation for LafargeHolcim's proposal to build the wall on the Mexico-United States border promised by U.S. President Donald Trump." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris-Plages (citing https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...-s-mexico-wall).

i always though the Paris Plages seemed to must be very expensive - you can still sunbathe on the bergers of the Seine though- used to be anyway years ago an obvious gay gathering spot.
