You might check on rates at the Madison, our favorite Left Bank hotel. It's smack on the Blvd. St-Germain across from the church of St-Germain des Prés and is a lovely hotel. Try orbitz.com in case there are discounts being offered there.

Have a look at the Hotel Suede Saint Germain , a very nice 3 star hotel...It is a very "romantic" hotel in a calm street with rooms having view on gardens...The decoration is in the typical French style...

I think it is in your range of prices...
Have anice trip and good luck for your search!

Help Elaine! I've been unable to contact Hotel Delavigne neither through their website nor hotel-in-paris.com/ So I was wondering since you posted you stayed there earlier this year if you perchance have their Fax or phone #? Thanks for your help.

we really liked this hotel - it's kind of on the border between the 5th and the 6th. We stayed there in December.

Hi... I just got back from Paris a few days ago. I'm in my late 40s, have been vacationing in Paris annually since 1976, and have stayed in the 6th since 1981.I stayed in a lot of other areas before making the 6th my vacation home.I assume you are traveling alone...I do as well...99% of the time...you should be fine. As for hotels...Give the Hotel le Clement a call (see if Mariam is there...she's fluent in English and lived in the states....tell her the guests who just gave her the bag of coathangers last week referred you.I paid 127 Euros for a room that slept two. The hotel has an elevator and bathroom... The address is 6, rue Clement...one block south of Blvd St. Germain and between rue de Seine and rue Mabillon. Tel.01-43.26.53.60. Ususally hotel managers come on duty at 8AM and work until 7PM so any other time to call is a waste. E-mail [email protected] Ask for a room on the 5th or 6th floor facing the street. It's quiet. I'm a light sleeper and had no problem. I always take those foam earplugs no matter where I stay. The hotel is on a square. It's very convenient to public transportation...metro lines 10 and 4 and plenty of buses... and right on the Place St. Suplice are several convenient buses. If you take bus 63 from Place St. Suplice and get off at Trocadero...cross the street...and at the Palais Chaillot you will have an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower across the river. From Charles de Gaulle airport take the RER B line to the St.Michel/Notre Dame stop...exit the subway and go left and up the escalator and when you come out of the corridor go left and you'll see the turnstile. You'll be at the Cluny-Sorbonne metro stop. Get on the train there...line 10 and get off at Mabillon and the hotel is two very short blocks away. This will get you to the general area. You can also take line 4 and get off at St. Germain, but if you end up at the Hotel le Clement then it's best to get off at Mabillon. Three friends came along with me on this past trip and insisted on taking a taxi. They were new at this. I told them it would be too expensive, but they insisted. Well, it was $93.80 to get to the hotel and it was a Sunday with less traffic. I nearly had a fit. I ALWAYS take the RER and metro when I travel alone. The exchange rate is about 1.39-1.40 so Euros times 1.4 is about right. If you want more help and leave me an e-mail address then I can correspond with you easier. Let me know how your trip went. I can be paged in the Asia forum if you have any other questions. I'm a regular in the Asia forum. Happy Travels!
