Paris hotels centrally located for 100 Euros or under?

I have been looking through this site, tripadvisor and slow trav for recommendations for Paris hotels for my friend and her family. She and 4 in her family are travelling to Paris in May for 3 nights then she and her daughter will continue on to Amsterdam for a week. I had suggested an apartment but most apartments in Paris rent by the week only. I have suggested the Apollon Montparnesse to them which is about 100 Euros for a double room and with five in their party they will need three rooms but wondering if anyone has any other recommendations? The Motte Piquet also looks nice and very central but a little over their price range. Thanks so much!

Hotel de France, 102 Boulevard de la Tour Maubourg, might fill the bill, though at the current exchange rate it might be just over their budget.

The Hotel Champ du Mars has rooms in that price range and is only a block or two from the Motte Piquet.

The Hotel Saint Jacques has double rooms for 105€ and single room for 92€. This hotel is in the 5th and very well located. It is well recommended on this board. We stayed there in 2004 and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I will be staying at Hotel St. Jacques for the second time at the end of March. I'm getting a single room for 92euros. Love this hotel which also has some great restaurants close by.

I have given my friend and her family the hotel recommendations and they are shocked at the prices which translate roughly into 150. Canadian dollars per room for three rooms for the five of them. I have now suggested the Hotel Nevers which is 59 Euros per night with bathroom and this seems more reasonable to them but I don't know if there are any other hotels in this price range. Any other recommendations that you may know of less than 70 Euros per night even outside of the city of Paris? The issue is that one person is paying for all five and they want two rooms - one for three and one for two. Are they just dreaming? Typically my husband and I use budget hotels but not for less than about 90 Euros per night. An apartment would be ideal but again they are not staying longer than three or four nights.

There are apartments that rent for fewer days than a week. Try:

www.rentparis.com
www.vacationinparis.com
www.parisvacationapartments.com

look at the studios, there are some in your price range that are very central.

Look at www.accorhotels.com - and look for 49-Euro Ibis Hotel specials. Depending on the family makeup, it's also possible Novotel, which usually allows a family of four, might be a good idea.

The cheapest option is likely to find a hostel and book one room for six. This will likely be three sets of bunkbeds. I met a family from Australia who were happily doing this, in Mexico City.

I really don't know why your friends are so shocked. I've traveled to Canada, and you can't get any decent hotel in Quebec city or Montreal for the equivalent of 50 euro, they are very expensive cities. Paris is the capital of France, after all, and one of the most expensive cities in Europe. Your friends must not have traveled very much, even in Canada.

You're right they haven't travelled much and they don't have much money. Most of this trip is being paid for by their in laws and so they don't want to have the in laws pay more than they need to.

Thanks Travelnut - I'll give them all a try - much appreciated! And thanks for the opinion on Hotel St Jacques caroline. We're also looking into an apartment with RentParis in Vitry-sur-Seine for 115 Euros per night that sleeps 6.
