My wife and I will be spending a part of our honeymoon in Paris in early August and would like to know which areas in Paris are best to stay. We would ideally like to stay in areas that non-touristy and can give us a french flavor..any suggestions on hotels offering upto EUR 120 a night and are well connected to the transport network are welcome.

If you enter "Paris hotels" at "Search the Forums" you will find many reviews.

I think you will find that a hotel in Arrondisements 1-8 will really suit you best and they will be full of "flavor". Paris really IS inhabited by real French people who live there all the time. You'll see them just everywhere. However, as a tourist, you will also want to be near the sites/sights you want to see. The transportation system in Paris is probably the best in the world so learn about the Metro AND the bus system.
Your budget may require some careful searching. It's not impossible by any means. How long are you going to be in Paris?

A/C is a must when visiting Paris in August (IMO) ..... so make sure any accommodations state they have air-conditioning. Also, tho the 'single digit' arrondissements are oft suggested for neighborhoods to stay, can also consider 14th EME, especially if close to Metro station .... which by me, having close proximity to Metro stop is also high priority.

You will find few parts of Paris without some tourists or so dominated by the trade as to isolate you from the natives, but I think you may well find what you're looking for more to the east than to the west - between Republique and Bastille, and slightly to the east of there. Though I'm no expert on hotels with AC - the ones I know don't have it.
