Paris Hotel
Hi,
The hotel I am considering staying at in Paris is the Waldorf Montparnasse. Has anyone stayed there recently? What was your experience with this hotel like? Is this hotel in a good location?
Thanks

Message: If you're looking for personal experience, I can recommend gotoday.com. I took a trip I purchased from them in March, leaving from Boston, and all went smoothly. I had a nonstop flight to Paris. Very well priced, check out the different hotel options. I stayed at the Waldorf Montparnasse in Paris and was very happy with the choice. I believe the choices are all for six nights, though (which works out to a week when you figure in the night on the plane), and I see you are looking for five nights.

I stayed at the Waldorf Montparnasse last March, as Travelnut's research shows. My daughter and I really enjoyed it there. The people at the desk were friendly and helpful. The room was large and there was a large bathroom. We had a triple room for the two of us, which we had not asked for but which I assume they gave us because it was available.
The location was very good for a few reasons. There are many metro lines within a block or two because of the location right across from the Gare Montparnasse. The neighborhood is very lively with many movie theaters and restaurants, think Times Square.
The location is not as centrally located for walking to the major sites as hotels in St. Germain or the Latin Quarter, but we did walk (shopping all the way). There are many, many stores on the rue de Rennes between the hotel and St. Germain, as well as a mall across the street from the hotel. This was appreciated mostly by my college age daughter.
The street is not a scenic or atmospheric one, but around the corner is the boulevard Edgar Quinet with a food market some days of the week and an arts and crafts market on Sundays. This is a very nice street with nice cafes and it leads to the Montparnasse Cemetery. Off this street is a street with many small crepe restaurants, bustling at lunch time with Parisians.
On the boulevard Montparnasse are all sorts of restaurants, including La Coupole, a large brasserie open very late at night, where we had a fun and very late meal our first night in Paris. Many other restaurants including the Bistrot du Dome for fish in a small bistro setting, which we also enjoyed.
I'd be happy to answer any questions.
