paris / Château de Versailles

Hello ,

I am planning trip to Ch teau de Versailles.
Can someone tell me if the passport ticket allows entry to the night fountain show? http://www.chateauversailles-spectacles.fr/en/spectacles/2018/night-fountains-show

Regards,
Ali

I see that this site is no longer allowing accent marks. It should be ch teau, but the circumflex has sometimes been dropped.

Hi alitravel, I googled Passport Ticket and it looks like it is required for the light show:

Fountains Shows and Musical Gardens | Palace of Versailles

Hopefully, someone with first-hand experience can confirm.

Please report back and have a great time.

Maybe tell Versailles that, I don't think you should correct the OP for calling it that, its own website has right at the top "chateau de Versailles" and that's the name of its URL. Official website - Palace of Versailles

Personally, I haven't been to that but if I had to bet, I'd say that special light show at night is NOT included in the Passport.

The Passport ticket is something Versailles sells and covers most things and the regular fountain etc shows but that night lightshow thing is something special. Maybe you can email to ask if you really want to know.

Discover Palace of Versailles

en.chateauversailles.fr/discover

The Palace of Versailles, whose origins date back to the seventeenth century, was successively a hunting lodge, a seat of power and, from the nineteenth century, a museum. With the gardens and the Palaces of Trianon, the park of the Ch teau de Versailles

Weird from official site they use chateau and palace both - what if the difference:

<Palace: the official residence of a sovereign, archbishop, bishop, or other exalted person. Chateau: a large French country house or castle.
Anyway interesting.

How about helping the OP with his/her question rather than quibbling about whether it's a palace or a chateau??

People's expectations about sights can differ depending on the description. For example, castles are not chateaux; people expecting nicely fortified castles instead find sumptious mansions.

Chateaux forts are castles - fortified chateaux - palaces are not. Anyway Versailles is awesome and be sure to explore the vast grounds and Le Hameau where Marie-Antoinette allegedly played peasant farm gal. Tours probably include that but it's a not long walk or people mover ride from palace.

Or chastising quibblers?

The quibbling has little to do with answers OP already got and by quibbling posts keeps post alive and garners more attention to original question. Quibbling is part of what makes Fodor's so fun and I do not think OPs mind but may find it relevant to their topic.
