Haven't been in a couple of years, but l'Arbuci 25, r. de Buci in the St. Germain area (metro Mabillon) has seafood/all you can eat fresh oysters outside on ice (we were there for Valentine's Day) At that time it was continuous service and had jazz in the evenings.

You can visit it at www.arbuci.com

I was having dinner at Le Bar a Huitres this spring and glanced up to see a man sitting at the bar, a towering mass of seafood in front of him (sort of a tiered compote with crushed ice and an unimaginable variety of shellfish). Trying to be cool, I didn't mention it until my friend (a Parisian) whispered to me, "Will you look at how much food that man is eating." I suspect this is the sort of seafood platter AllyPally's father has in mind.

While undoubtedly there are a number of restaurants in Paris that serve something on this order, I can vouch for this one. The oysters tasted of the ocean, and at the recommendation of my friend I tried sandre, a fish found only in France. Delicious! We were at the one on boulevard du Montparnasse.

Hi Toupary,

The gentleman at the bar was eating a platter for two.

Yes, those oysters are wonderful!

It's the Bar a Huitres. The one we went to was on boulevard du Montparnasse, but there are a number of them around Paris. I know there's one around St-Germain-des-Pres or the Quartier Latin. They do a very nice job and everything is very fresh. As I recall, the prices weren't bad, but I wasn't paying.
