Paris arrival Saturday June 24

Hello, DH and I will arrive in Paris (by car from Rouen by car) on Saturday afternoon June 24. The city’s Gay Pride parade is that day and we wonder if it will have much impact on the streets in the 7th Arrondissement where we will be staying or our route from the Peripherique. I found the parade route map online and it seems most events after the parade are at the Place de la Republic. I thought perhaps there might be gatherings on the Champ de Mars that would bring crowds but didn’t find any mention when I searched. We eat rather simply and don’t usually make dinner reservations but it might be wise to plan ahead this evening. Any thoughts from those more familiar with Paris?

You won't be bothered at all in your neighborhood. Make advance réservations if going to a popular restaurant.

I doubt you will be impacted at all other than by needing to reserve for restaurants which I always do anyway.

Carmine café on Suffren is a nice brasserie. I had a steak on a stone there (hot stone you let your steak cook the way you want).

Reservations for Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunch are a good idea any time as the dining rooms draw weekend trade.

The only parade you might encounter in the 7th arrondissement would be an anti-gay pride event, depending on who is elected president in the meantime.

They were chanting 'Vote, tu l'auras dans le Fillon !!'

Thanks all for the information. We haven't been to Paris for 5 years and are looking forward to returning.

The idea of a gay pride parade in the 7th is kind of funny, but you never know.

Depending on just where in the 7th, for a simple meal you can walk to the Rue du Montparnasse (as it heads northeast from the intersection with Boulevard du Montparnasse) and eat crêpes to your heart's content. On sidewalks or inside -it's Crêpes Alley!

Nice to know stu.
Perfectly ok at least in Belgium. No negative connotation.

WoinParis, vocabulary in the United States is quite limited these days. We can't say a ton of things anymore without being set upon (or stoned)! By the way, I'm really looking forward to visiting your country in a few weeks. Can't wait!

michelhuebeli, We are staying near the Ecole Militaire so rue du Montparnasse will be far for us that evening. We like crepes so if we are in that area will take a look.

We knew some restaurants in the area and will check if they are still in business and see if we need a reservation.
