Paris apartment locations
Sorry for yet another post on this!!! I've finally narrowed it down to these two apartments. I know it's small (both are sofa bed and that's ok too) and that will be fine but for 9 days which location is better?

The apartment itself is not very picturesque but the view is wonderful and the price is right.

Beautiful apartment! With a terrace! Only a little more expensive but it's the noise and high traffic area (safety at night as well) that I'm worried about.
Please help!!

Hi KayDoll
Your first choice would also be my preference of the two apartments you list.
We stayed last month in an apartment on the same location as your second choice, and the noise of traffic and police sirens meant we had to sleep with the windows closed! Even during the daytime, it wasn't a relaxing place to be.
If you read my report (just click on my screen name) you'll see that having an elevator in the building isn't always what it's cracked up to be, so maybe that will help sway your decision. We didn't feel at all unsafe at night at that location, because there's always something happening.
Both apartments are so central I wouldn't worry on that score.
Happy travels, Di

I looked hard and long at your choices KayDoll and although they each have certain drawbacks I would go with the Louvre apartment simply because it has TWO tables. One on the terrace for eating on in good weather and a second choice inside. The only thing I didn't like was (it looks as if) there is nowhere to put your toileteries in the bathroom.
The noise wouldn't bother me but of course it obviously does to most. I also liked the fact the refrigerator and other appliances are tidly hidden in cupboards.
What put me off slightly about the other apartment is the low microwave and nowhere to put anything you are cooking.
I hope whichever you choose will be just perfect for you!

I know you said you have narrowed it down to those two, but just for the heck of it I started looking on vrbo.com and found this what-appears-to-be-cute little studio in the 5th. Has great reviews.

I'll admit I really don't like the first one very much at all. The apt doesn't have any furniture at all but the couch, it appears. I'd rather stay in a hotel myself, and I don't think the view is that great, but to each his own. This place used to be a hotel, in fact, it looks like maybe it has foreign owners.
The second apt looks better by far to me. I don't know about noise issues, I suppose it would be noisier, maybe. But at least it has a table (one inside and outside). The couch even looks more comfortable. I suppose you think the first will be quiet because it's higher up, and that's probably true.
I presume you are not planning on really cooking at all in either one.
YOu might check tripadvisor reviews about the location, for a hotel in proximity. I think the first apt is on rue St Hyacinthe, isn't it. Hotel des Tuileries is also.
I don't know why you would be worried about safety of the second and not the first. I wouldn't consider that an issue.

It's tough to decide between the two. Both are safe and convenient.
I like the location of the first one best. And the bathroom looks a bit bigger and it seems to have closet space. The downside, as everyone has mentioned, is that there is no place to sit other than the couch. I don't know where you're supposed to eat (even take-out food)? Maybe sitting on the couch with that table? You could always inquire--there is no real photo of the wall mounted TV and what's underneath.
The second is also is a good location, though on a busier street. It has chairs and a balcony though the bathroom looks smaller. It would be my choice since having the table and chairs--a place to sit and put things down when you come in--is important for your comfort and convenience. I wouldn't worry much about the noise, since you'll probably have the door closed that time of year. And I actually like looking out on activity rather than a quiet courtyard. If you're going to live in the city--experience the city! It's also close to the Seine and a quick walk across to the 6th.
Let us know which one you choose.

Hello! Thank you for all of your advice so far! I was leaning more towards the second as well but after reading a few reviews on TA I saw a lot of negative reviews in regards to the areas safety. I am requesting pricing for the one the Grandmere suggested and if it works out I'll most likely go with that one. I'll keep everyone updated. Thanks again so much!
