Paris Apartment Feedback Needed

Do you know how far this apartment is located from the main tourist attractions?

http://web.me.com/patcane/Site/Under...ontmartre.html

The exact address for the apartment is 4, rue des abbesses, 75018, Paris.

Have you stayed here before?

I appreciate your feedback.

Thanks,
RP

If it's in Montmartre, it's a subway ride from, for example, Notre Dame, the Louvre, etc. Not within walking distance. But on it's own Montmartre is really cool, the old artist's enclave, great restaurants, beautiful views of Paris, etc.

It's about 4 km from Notre Dame. MOntmartre is kind of on a hill, also.

Do you think it is worth considering to rent for 4 day trip for a family of 5?

Did you notice the part about "6th floor, no elevator"? For me, that would be a big negative (and in Europe, the 6th floor generally means you have to climb 6 flights, it would be the 7th floor in the US).

Just my opinion, because it looks very nice, and the price is good, but I think I would try for a more central location for a short stay. You're going to want to fit in a lot in a short time. I'd probably try to find an apartment in the 4th, 5th or 6th, where you can walk to many of the sights you want to see.

I wouldn't think it a great idea in your situation (never been to Paris, large family, no elevator).

Four days in Paris? I would suggest a much more central location. Look for something in the 4th, 6th or 7th. I've taken family of 6 to Paris and it takes time to corral everyone when walking, taking the Metro or bus or finding a restaurant with a table for your family. For this reason, you want to minimize the time spent getting from point A to point B. Cool as Montmarte is, you don't want to come down off that hill every day to get to the "tourist shuffle" where you'll spend most of your limited time.

Only four days in Paris and the 18th? If you don't mind spending a lot of time underground on the metro, then go for it. If you do mind, then book more central and walk a lot. I personally like to walk or take the bus, as I can't see the city while underground. Happy Travels!

Trying to get something more central. Have not found something I like yet. Hopefully I will find something soon.

We just returned from a week in Paris, staying in the 7th at an apartment that belongs to Paris Perfect. Excellent location and an outstanding apartment (www.parisperfect.com/).

All of the apartments you listed are offered through rental agencies while Paris Perfect owns their own properties. You'll find that this makes a major difference in service and quality.

Parisperfect apartments are lovely but very pricey. The OP apprears to be looking for a more reasonable price.

Yes, I have looked at ParisPerfect. They have limited availability for the time and are pricey for my budget.

Can you please provide some feedback about the other ones if you have rented or you understand the locality. The Beu-Paris one is located in 8th, the Ah-Paris one is in 3rd and the "apartmentParisLouvre" is very close to Eiffel tower.

I do not care so much about the decor etc. as long it is clean and can fit us. Since we would most of the time be out sightseeing there would be hardly anytime to appreciate the decor!

I use rentalfrance.com. They don't have as many apartments as other companies, but they offer good locations and fair prices. I personally have stayed at the Rue de Buci apartment and will be staying in the Huchette apartment in a couple of months.

I think the one on the Avenue de la Motte Piquet and the one in the Marais both look nice. Your kids would probably have more fun in the Marais neighborhood than in the 7ème, but in the Eiffel one they'd be just a few paces from Pizza Tina, my kids' favorite place to eat in Paris.

@john127: I had sent realfrance.com to check availability 6 days back. They have not responded yet. I just sent another email after you posted it here. Will see what they say.

Actually, you have a different agency. The one I recommended is rentalfrance.com, not REALfrance.
