Can we have an ongoing "sticky" Paris thread? Not for a specific trip but just discussion of restaurants, places to visit, what to wear, etc. Are you up for it?

I will start. I loved Jardin des Plants. I wish I would have allocated more time to it to see all the various exhibits and museums there. I have not been to the Rodin Museum and it is always intimidating because the weather has to be cooperating. Plus, since Midnight in Paris I have a very idealized view of the Rodin Museum, I am expecting Carla Bruni to be there when I go there.

New threads about all of those topics and others are started every day on here. Instead of generating one huge/unwieldy thread, maybe add your comments/contribute to some of the relevant ones.

It's spelled macaron, Kurosawa. A macaroon is one of those sticky coconut things. There are a lot of threads on them on Fodors, so do a search, and/or start another thread of your own about where is the best place to get macarons in Paris. IMO macarons are one of the biggest disappointments in Paris..dry, dreary, and I don't care who has made them I think they are not worth the effort.

Obviously, my opinion is not the same as a lot of people's and also there will be those who cannot imagine why I don't like these things.

As to you're being new here you can see there are the "new posters police" who have already pounced on you because if you're new then some of them think you cannot be for real.

Agree with Dukey about macarons. Don't understand the fuss at all.

As for a "sticky thread," it's an impossible idea. The posts would get up into the tens of thousands immediately. There's nothing wrong with the Paris threads the way they are.

But feel free to start specific posts on Paris or to contribute to the ones already here.

I think people can more easily find what they are looking for if they have specific threads addressing their issues and not one humongous sticky thread to wade through. As you can see already, theis thread has morphed from a general thread about Paris to a thread about why we don't need a general thread.

HI, I second suggestion you check out the "Our Paris" forum, it really is all thing Paris, tons of good tips and you will never lack for someone to discuss all things Parisien.

You could also try tripadvisor.com , unlike here they do have a specific "Paris" forum, but like here, you have to ask questions not just have random discussions( although honestly there are alot of threads that do sort of go on and on about stuff, lots of fun, lol )

Kurosawa...try Un Dimanch a Paris in the 6th for macarons. They far surpass Laduree macarons. The salted caramel, strawberry and ginger/citrus were my favorites.

There is a blogger that writes Paris Patisseries and macarons are a part of his blogs....all the pastries look fabulous.

You will find there are lots of people who love talking about Paris. Don't know if a sticky thread will work but there will always be plenty to talk about, for sure.

It's too inefficient for people to have one thread to talk about anything related to Paris. It doesn't make sense for a search, either.
