Welcome to Fodors

What worries you about the metro? It generally runs on time, is clean etc. and is safe. (Public transport in Europe is generally very safe) There is another thread going on this so I'll get you the link

If you concern is more about timings then you need to look at 1) the metro timetable and 2) the map of CDG to see how far you have to walk to get to the metro

eurocheapo.com/Paris getting around
RER and Air France buses go to the center
both are quite nice no worries.

Your question is not clear to me. You arrive in Paris airport at 5 p.m. Do you want to leave the luggage at the airport, go to Paris for a few hours, return to airport to take the luggage and go to Disney in the same night ?

If you are worried about the metro (can cover a lot of worries), I would say absolutely not in terms of this being advisable. What are you considering, a couple hours in Paris before somehow getting to Disney that very same night? Sorry, I think this is crazy when you aren't landing until 5 pm.

You can take the VEA bus from CDG directly to many hotels near Disney:

http://www.vea.fr/

Or you can take the RER directly into Paris: 9.25€ each. It takes about one hour to reach most destination. You can even leave your luggage at either Gare du Nord (on the inbound leg) or Gare de Lyon (on the outbound to Disney leg), visit Paris then continue on the RER A4 to Disney; 7.10€ and about another hour.

Arriving CDG at 5pm will not give you a lot of time in Paris.

I can't imagine what your worries are about the Paris métro, but if you're landing at CDG at 5 pm with a 12-year-old (from where? overseas?) and your destination is Disneyland, no, I can't see trying to traipse around Paris first, especially with luggage.
