Paris (4 nights) - Day trip to Bruge or Brussles possible/advisable?

Hi Guys
I am planning to go to France (Paris) for 4 nights.
1 day i will be going to disneyland
1 day i would like to go to Belgium for a day just to get a feel.
Is this doable, which would be more toursity to go Bruge or Brussels?
What will be my cheapest option of going from Paris to Bruge/Brussles?
also where would be best/goodto stay in Paris?(not spending too much)

I would be very grateful if you could answer these for me.

Regards
Rucky

Hello R-

I assume you've been to Paris before. If you haven't, then I would suggest only one side trip, if at all.

Based on what you've requested, I would say Brussels. It's about an hour and 25 minutes on a direct train from Paris. Bruges is about 2.5 hours on a direct train from Paris. If you do a search at www.raileurope.com, you'll see the options available.

Each city had its own thing to offer. However, I'm a bit biased towards Bruges. It's quite beautiful.

As far as a place to stay, there is a superthread on this board that discusses lodging in Paris on both the Left Bank and Right Bank.

I'd also go to Brussels if I were you (if you go anywhere). I went to Brussels on a day trip from Paris and really enjoyed it. It is very easy with the Thalys high-speed train. It takes a lot longer to get to Bruges and it is totally touristy, not to say I didn't enjoy seeing it. But it is basically a place that only exists for tourists.

Your question about where to stay in Paris could require a guidebook to answer.

Personally, if you have not been to Paris before..I'd not do either DL or BR. Going to Paris and spending 1/2 your time outside of Paris..not so sure.

Four days is barely enough time to scratchthe surface of Paris - I wouldn't go anywhere - and certainly not Disney unless you have small ids.

As for where to stay, what is your budget, how many are you and what type of hotel/atmosphere/amenities do you want? (Old and cutesy, moder, business, super budget???)

Are you a Disney-ite? Do you "collect" Disney Parks? If so I can see you wanting to visit DL Paris. But if not, and IF you have been to any other Disney resort - you can skip DL Paris. It is smaller and not really a "must" for most visitors.

Only you can decide if you really have to go to Disneyland Paris -- but you definitely do not have time for two day trips. I'd personally skip both day trips (I have been to DL Paris once)
