After reading all the threads about wearing sandals in Paris, I have understood that sandals are OK, as long as they are of the ?dressed? variety. However, I still have a question: On chilly days & eves, I like to wear panty hose. Is it OK to wear panty hose with the sandals?<BR>

I don't think so Lisa. Sandals only seemed to work with a killer pedicure. Maybe sandals aren't for you on chilly days (simple as that). Have a great time in Paris~~!!

Both Donna Karan and Hanes came out last year with toeless panty hose; they are great! There's a little "thong-type" thing that goes between big toe and others. Gives you that finished look on your legs, control top (optional), but bare toes!

It is sort of defeating the purpose isn't it? to wear an open shoe but to wear a stocking/sock? If it is warm,wear sandals,if you are cold,wear closed shoes.

This question is as pointless as the thread about only having a bathtub and how would the woman wash her hair. If I were you Lisa you had better ask the Fashion Queens on this board about acceptable :underwear,deodorant,perfume,makeup,toothpaste,bra nd of cotton swabs to buy,shampoo,type of soap that will be socially acceptable in Paris.

The probability that you'll ever see any of those people again is slight, so wear what you wouldn't be embarrassed to wear at home and be comfortable. I ended up wearing knee-highs with long skirts and sandals because I was getting killer blisters with the sandals and all that walking. And it was, indeed, a bit chilly. I do think, however, that reinforced toes shouldn't be visible.

I guess I missed the sandals thread, but I wouldn't wear sandals in Paris or any other city except for a brief foray out of the hotel because they're cities and your feet get dirty so quickly. I really can't picture panty hose with sandals as a general concept to begin with, but seems to me then you've got something else to get dirty quickly.

Lisa, What I want to know is, what color of panty hose are okay to wear in Paris? I mean, like, nude? Or maybe suntan? I hear black is all they wear in Europe. Is it okay if they aren't black?<BR><BR>And, what about sheen. Are only sheers acceptable? And, is it okay to stop the run with clear nail polish, or should I just throw them out. These sandals are frequently worn with thick, wooly socks, especially if the wool is off white, flecked with blue, grey or black.<BR>(And, especially if it is cool out!) So, if you come up our way to visit, if you don't want to be labeled a tourist, be sure to bring your Birks and socks. You will look so much like a native, people will be stopping you to ask for directions!

I have the weirdest toes known to mankind, but I wear open toe shoes with socks sometimes because of pain. So I am out "style" for some of you, but I bet I am prettier than most of you.

I wear the "toeless panty hose" all the time with my sandals when I want to dress them up a bit. They are wonderful and your beautiful polished toes still show and yet the legs and heels look smooth. However,They can be expensive like $10-15 a pair when you buy the Donna Karan and Hanes. Penny's and Sears (about $5.00 a pair) sold them last year but have had a hard time finding them this year. I did go to an outlet store and bought several pair. i love them and highly recommend them. <BR>Shar
