Pantheon/Trevi Hotel Help

I currently have a reservation at Albergo Del Senato. I am looking for something a little lower in price and wonder if anyone has input on this hotel, the Santa Chiara Hotel, and Hotel Cesari? The Del Senato is almost $80 more per night than the Cesari. If you can help me figure out which hotel to use, I would appreciate it. We are in our 50's but very young acting. We want a room and hotel that is a little elegant as it is a special occassion. Thanks.

Hi schectec, I recently booked hotels in Italy using information from this and other sites. I would do a search on this forum, see Search This Forum at the top of the page. Also check out www.venere.com and www.tripadvisor.com for travelers opinions. I hope this helps.

I can't compare, but the Santa CHiara is a very nice hotel, although the rooms are very generic.

I've stayed at the Del Senato several times. I think it's worth the extra money as the hotel is very nice, the staff and service provided is excellent and the views of the Pantheon unbeatable. While the Santa Chiara and Cesari are fine three star hotels and close by, they don't have the view and the rooms are not as charming as the Del Senato's. I've seen a few negative comments on the staff at both the Santa Chiara and Cesari recently on the AOL board.

I love the Del Senato bu their prices have risen exponentially over the past 5 years. The view we had from our room last January was so perfect it was surreal! And it is very clean and professionally staffed.

Albergo Cesari is a very nice hotel near to Panthoen Square and much more reaonably priced.

Also, my mom and brother stayed at the Santa Chiara for 4 nights on my recommendation last year and were very happy with the hotel.

We thought about staying at The Nazionale during our upcoming trip, but opted for the del Senato instead.
I would love to hear your opinions of The Nazionale when you return.
thanks.

We stayed at the Cesari a few years ago. It was ok but not elegant by any means. The location was great but the smoke from the front desk clerks travelled up into our room. Maybe the new smoking ban will take care of that problem. We loved the small restaurant next door on the Trevi side. And an even better one is about a block away on the Pantheon side across from a store that sells clocks made from raku pottery. Sorry, don't remember the names.

Maryanne1, please update me when you return as to how the hotel is. Let me know if the Pantheon is under construction right now. I recently read that it might be.

Thanks everyone, for your input.
