Paging lucielou!

Hi Lucie,
You mentioned that your daughter is hoping to spend some time in the US between school and starting work. My daughter and I are both so appreciative of all the help you've given us these past months.

My daughter said, if you feel she can be of any help, she'd be more than happy to exchange e-mails and/or meet with your daughter while she (my daughter) is still in Ireland. I'm guessing they're about the same age. My daughter is 21 (will be 22 in September). You never know when your daughter might be glad to know someone here!

If you think your daughter would be interested, e-mail me and I'll send you my daughter's e-mail address. You can reach me at my Fodor's screen name at aol dot com.

Hello CAPH52

My PC has been acting up lately, so I havent had a chance to visit fodors, many thanks for your very kind offer, I will pass your message on to my daugher, she is not sure if she will now travel next year, she feels it would be best to go straight ahead and he her postgrad, and maybe travel the following year, she's having a very rough time in her final year doing nursing, too many issues to go into here, but she was very sad and depressed for a while, things are improving slightly, but she will be glad to be finished in that particular hospital.

Many thanks CAPH52

Lucie

Hi Lucie,
I'm so sorry to hear that your daughter has been having a rough time of it. I hope the rest of it goes much easier for her and that she continues to feel better and better. And I wish her the best of luck with whatever she decides to do next year.

I know this has to have been hard on you too. We worry so about our kids, don't we?

My daughter is actually leaving Thursday. I'll be so glad to have her home!

But if and when your daughter decides she wants to travel here, if she'd like to have a contact near her age, just let me know and I'll send my daughter's e-mail.

Sending cyberhugs to you and your daughter.
Cathy

Lucielou, Nursing is tough but she will pull through if its the final year. Some pals of mine are mature staudents in a related area and its tough but she will get through. If she is still low she should take a break. PG is different but still pressurised in a smaller environment. Good luck to you and your daughter.

Hello Lucielou

I was sorry to read your daughter has been having a bad time. Hopefully things will improve in the near future.

I do think of you and her from time to time, usually something to do with gluten-free foods! I know I have it easy with my son, compared to what your daughter goes through, but it still involves much thought when shopping, and planning each and every meal. He is only 14 but he gets very fed up with not being able to eat what everyone else does. He will have a harder time of it as he gets older too, not being able to go out for a sandwich, pizza,Macdonalds, etc with his friends.

Here's wishing you both lots of healing light, and to you too CAPH.

I work in Education and without giving it away I know what they go through and some kids just find it tougher at the end. Perfectly normal and outside influences affect it. I also thinks girls feel the pressure in their Early 20's finishing and some get ill or stressed. I know one now and its remarkable how similar it is to an illness I had at her age and it was stress related. Not a bother on me now in my late 30's!

Also my friends have been nurses in various hospitals in Dublin and she just has to pick the area/field she likes and work the best she can. My friends colleagues were fantastic and one particulary with some of the issues in the Coomb still had a wonderful support group with her fellow nurses in the hospital. She went back to the UK but made some great friends from many countries through her work.
